only picked one, didnt read that far down before choosing but i would also choose splitting up the eagles as well as my first option of just getting a 10th team in to get rid of the bye.

Will not split why go back to being out of the finals every year and unfinancial?
Look what I've gained:
17 seasons, 7 grand finals, 2 premierships, 14 finals campaigns, NO wooden spoons -
plus do you really want your team to lose on league dividend.
League dividend has been around $410,000 per year for the 9 clubs since 1991 or $3.7m a year in total.
If 10 teams then you'd be getting $370,000 each per year or if you like your club over the past 17 seasons would have received $680,000 less in total from the league - over 9 clubs that is $6.12 million not shared!!!
Opposition supporters can stop the rot and stop trying to weaken us - WWTFC is one club based on a wonderful history of 2 foundations clubs.

Quite logical Col. Eight teams makes sense to me - should we chuck Centrals out to the Gold Coast since the Kangas don't want to go!?

We've already lost 2 matches per team in 1996. Why do we want to lose another two by a 10th team? And then yet another if it were to be an interstate team?

So has my line, on the various threads. I still can't work out why anyone would want the season to go down by two more matches.

8 teams instead of 9 - play 7 opponents 3 times each = 21 matches for the season appeals to me. That would require a home match each and a neutral venue like Adelaide Oval or West Lakes for the third.
But we are then back to the problem of who goes or merges just like the AFL.

An Internet forum went a hell of a long way to saving the NAFC.

think it went more than a long way actually, in the end IMHO it was the driving force

I agree with Psyber - 8 teams for me --- have believed this since day one.
As for the question of who drops out ---- I can only say that even as a westies supporter I supported the introduction of the Port Adelaide Football Club as the second AFL team however similarly I felt that as part of the deal Port should drop out of the SANFL competition --- Probably too late now but would have stopped all the arguments of which club owned the tradition etc

I would have preferred "thrown out" when they tried to get in first bypassing the SANFL, but it would make room for the other teams in the west of Adelaide!

I was being nice to all for Christmas ---- do not get me started on the history of Adelaide Oval as that still is another sore point

22 rounds, every team plays each other twice, once home, once away.
Simple!

If we are going to go to 12 teams, rather than invite other sides in, lets just kick several sides out and bring the SANFL back to what it was when it began. Sides that get the arse can easily be amalgamated into the nearest geographically located side.
