One of the gutsiest marks I’ve ever seen!!! Right up there with Keith Thomas running against the flight in the 84 GF. Great pick up the Bloods.

Another who has gone out on an official press release

Leigh Gathercole: A former player with Bendigo in the VFL and Vic Country state championships representative in 2006, Leigh, 26 and 188cm, comes to West Adelaide from South Mildura in the Sunraysia league. A strong midfielder / forward Leigh is an experienced player with a great work ethic and will be an important player for the club in 2008.

Below is a link to the official westies press release with a little info re each played recruited and released to the public so far 8)

Wow well done West Adelaide, some excellent recruits. When teams recruit a ton of players they often get their fair share of duds but I honestly think all are excellent additions.

Bailey under Collins at Box Hill was a star but what is the impression on "John Pratt"?????

Never given a real oppertunity at senior level with the Legs. Played 3 or 4 games with minimal game time in each. Small little rover with good foot skills and is as tough as nails. Will be good for him to finally have the chance to become a league player which he wasn't really given at the NFC.

Pratty has a hard enough edge and wins hard ball ... I reckon his disposal is suspect at times though, however he is still young and has great workrate, and will be a popular member of the group.

In a nutshell, jury still out but definitely worth a shot.

Bails may well be a VERY good player for you guys .. Will no doubt have a bit to prove and playing under a different coach, within a different style (and let's face it, it couldn't have been much worse than Norwood's last year) could be one of your best - Still remains highly suspect when body contact is required though.

good pickups for the bloods, some quality players there, hopefully it helps them to some success in the next few years.

If Pratt makes Westies side on anything like a regular basis, then you're going NO where.
Surely all West supporters expect to be a stronger side than what Norwood were last year and if Pratt struggled at the Parade, well you work it out.

Over the years the bloods always seem to pick up quality players from here and there and they don't do any good or the side goes backwards, hopefully for the sake of the comp what they have picked up so far this year may start to push them away from the bottom of the ladder and be alot more competetive

on face value you are correct G but remember that in a different enviroment he could blossom as has happened to other players over the years

Difference is Andy Collins has full control of the ship and he has the record on the board and all ways makes a success of where he goes

Last time they had a big recruiting spree they made the GF. As good a bloke as Weidemann is, he wasn't much of a coach and he also was at the club the time all the Doug Thomas saga was going on. They look to have got their off-field stuff sorted and from all reports Andy Collins is rated very highly (much like MacGowan) so they could well challenge for a finals spot. Is Cupido still playing?
