The North Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce that former Port Power Premiership player Roger James has joined the Club as an assistant Coach. Andrew is delighted with the appointment and is looking forward to "tapping" into some of Roger's vast amount of AFL Experience. Before retiring due to injuries, Roger was one of the premier On Ballers in the AFL, especially at Clearances, his knowledge will be invaluable to the likes of Allan, O'Brien, Stribling, Pfeiffer and Delvins. Roger will take over as Midfield Coach from Tim Cook who unfortunately couldn't continue due to increased work commitments. Roger will join Darren Jarman and Scott Peters as our Coaching Staff for 2008 under the guidance of Andrew.

Roger's Football Career is as follows:

AFL
147 Games with Port Power
87 Goals
2004 Premiership
Most Improved 2000
Best Finals Player 2004
PAFC Life Member 2005
2488 Disposals @ 16.9

SANFL
75 Games with Norwood

That looks like a good move by the Roosters, all the clubs have been actively getting their coaching panels right for next year. We are now just starting to reap the rewards of former AFL players returning their knowledge and skills to the SANFL team, where they started from.

Interesting to see that 5 of the 9 SANFL assistant coaches are Norwood Premiership players. Had my suspicions when he was at Power but now it's official - Roger is a cock lover!

That's a super get for the club

Interestingly during his Power days I saw him in the Grandstand at Prospect at a non-Norwood game ..... does he have some connections in the club?

He was one of my favourite players even tho he played for Port

Seemed settled at Kersbrook, obviously got the coaching bug and wanting to get to a high level again. Good luck to him, from what I hear is a good communicator and sensible bloke - should go well.

MM interesting selection, think I may well reserve my judgement on this appointment for a while, was a great footballer and hard at it, not sure of what coaching history or abilities he has in that field

Good appointment - wish he was coaching the midfield at the Power instead of McGuinness.

A criminally underrated player in his day...

Thats a great get for North, yeah he was touted as an underated player, but the funny thing is with those types, every week someone would say how much of a great player he was but underated.
Every bloody week! So wouldnt that make him.........A player who was underated but constantly great!

If I remember, we swapped him for Adam Heuskes....

I can see Roger James being a very good appointment for the NAFC.

Locky - he was an assistant coach at Norwood in 2006 IIRC.

Was certainly a player with natural talent. I think he has close ties with Josh Francou as well so therein may be the North connection.

Roger also was a team mate of Jars. They played in the Norwood '97 premiership together.
