Just as a point of interest, if he'd signed with North conditional on not being re-drafted, and was then called up by either the Crows or Port ... Would he be aligned in the SANFL with North or re-allocated back to his club of origin, South?

Its interesting because the consensus on the SANFL board is that North are going to slide which I don't understand when they have a war chest as good as anyone for new recruits

Should this be on the SANFL board?
In between signatures .....

Injury prone and average??? Not bad coming from a Norwood supporter. Maybe they are well used words at the Parade.

BTW - when are Norwood announcing some "in's" - seems it's all "lets get out of here" at the Parade, even your star recruit from this year has gone.

1. So because I'm a Norwood supporter than means I can't question the talents of a player? :?

2. McGuinness has signed for 2009 & 2010.

no fair enough but I bet Norwood would take him if approached them? You have a fair spread of injury prone average big men - he would fit in nicely.

P.S. What's the bet McGuiness doesn't come back in 2009 or if he does, is half the player he was this year after a year of the good life?

I wouldn't want Doyle. If we've had our fair share of injury prone average big men why do we want another? Assuming Nicholas doesn't leave, a ruck division of Nicholas/Minson and possibly Cockshell isn't too bad. If we retain Tyrell then it's even stronger.

As for McGuinness, he's signed and he'll come back as good as ever.

I'd be disappointed if he signed with an SANFL club and it wasnt South. I read an article about him last year where he said he kept an eye on how the club was travelling and would probably want to return there after his afl career is shot.

A lot can change in a season or two though.

Not sure how North's ruckmen would pick up an injury anyway. It's not like they move around much.

It is very risky running from the bench to the centre once a quarter!

As this thread drags towards its 2nd page, I feel obliged to burst the bubble slightly:

Stephen Doyle has not been delisted from the Sydney Swans. See their official list of delistings here. And he is contracted to the club for 2008. And, with the delisting of 'experienced rookie' ruckman Earl Shaw, Doyle is Sydney's 3rd ruckman, in circumstances where the 4th and last is a kid who was drafted in 2006 and has just finished his HSC.

Doesn't sound like he's going anywhere to me.

Your right Simon but the real story is as follows (according to a former team mate of his). Doyle was was called in at the end of the season and told he was to be delisted after the Swans were about to tie up a another ruckman in trade week but that deal fell over prior to trade week so he kept his spot when the Swans released it's official list. He has been told he could be a last minute delisting yet despite his 1 year to go. He has been in contact with 4 SANFL clubs btw including his original club, South after he was originally told.

My betting based on my mail is that he will stay on the Swans list for another year.
