announced today that Rory O'brien is coming to the SANFL due to the larger salary caps here
he sounds like he may be good and is a brother to a Fremantle 2006 recruit
they didn't say who he was coming to
anybody know or heard anything?

I'd did those with big brown paper bags.
Namely Central, South and Port.
Could be the next highest paid carpenter come footballer in the state.

If he is any relation to Michael O'Brien who I believe also came to us from the West, I would say that Central would lead in the chase for him.
Cheers

Norths look like they have replaced Dean Howard (back to the gold coast) in the mid field with Rory O'Brien

Interesting that Norths have had a few recruits who played in the WAFL
1 C Burrows
2 Koops
3 Stribling
4 Kingsley Walker

All have exceded expectations a bit like Jack Juniper who also returned to the Bays this season who ended up playing SAAFL instead

Looking at his season stats though this lad averages 30 + touches a game and might not be like his peers from the west in the past

from today's tiser
North has already signed one recruit for 2008, 21-year-old Peel Thunder midfielder Rory O'Brien, who won his club's best-and-fairest in 2006.

Dean Howard's going to impossible replace, players like him are extremely rare, we might need to recruit more than 1 person to try and replace him. At least one other retirement to be announced at Prospect from my mail too.
A lot of salary cap space will be free.
The other signing we've made from WA is very good too.

I thought Stribling was an original rooster !!!

He was and Kingsley Walker was originally from Kangaroo Island but I think Dash61 is trying to make some sort of weird connection that if you play in the WAFL and play for North you can't play. Just Dash61's usual diatribe about North.
He conveniently left Daniel Hargraves out of his list.
Just for the record Stribs has been great and really improved as the year went on.

Stribling Norths-WA-Norths
Younie Wodonga-WA-Norths
Juniper Bays-WA-Bays

The points is WA players have not been the success in SA in the past, full blown WA boys were Koops, Burrows & Walker (make a case for those three), but as North supporters im sure you will.

Walker came from Kangaroo Island, unless it floated a few thousand miles from when I last saw it its not in WA. Koops is hardly a full blown WA boy, he regards himself as a Northern Territorian.

So you have 1 player backing up your argument now? Compelling.

PS Marty Whitelaw was a dud too.

You can never win, you could have recruited a one legged austrian mountaineer and you would make an excuse for him.
