Congratulations Mathew Stokes...

As a dog fan I have always been impressed with Mathew Stokes.
He never tasted premiership success against us; but for a guy of his size (well, lack of it) to show he could come from up north through the SANFL to become a 'mature age' signing into the AFL is fantastic. To go the next step and be a premiership side starter is quite an achievement! He is a significant player in Geelong's side.
I tip my hat to ya, Stokesy, well done.

Must agree, since he has been at the catters he has been nothing more than a fringe player, has stood up big time this year, look like he was gone in the first 7 minutes today with a horrific knee injury, came back on in the 2nd 1/4 and I reckon he would not have been to far behind Johhno for the medal. Loved the interview I heard with him after the game where he tiold the commentator he would be very sore tomorrow and it would be sore in the knee and nothing else, talk about commitment. One thinks the catters are already focussing on next year

I have been saying this for a long time that the crows should have picked him up years ago, now look, he is an afl premiership player.

I never thought he stood out that much at the Eagles and rarely thought of him being in their best 6 players and I was surprised with Geelong recruiting him.
Absolute awesome year and game by Matty, well done to the Cats for showing faith in him and well done to the Eagles for helping get him there.

Agree with all on here
Matty is a fine young man who has kept in contact with the Eagles.
We sent him good wishes during the week.
Matty always put in, extremely committed, focussed and a hard worker.
Well deserved to be a premiership player & congratulations on Geelong knowing talent and giving Matty the time to settle in 2006 when he first went over.

A gutsy courageous player is Mathew, I certainly rated him highly playing for us and was sad to see him go, but delighted that he is now a premiership player, after missing out 3 times in a row. I'm sure that the folks at Palmerston are thrilled to see him where he is now, and I think that Geelong fans would be happy they are a club whose coaching staff does not listen to random supporters.
I'd like to also congratulate the SA boys too that played, Corey Enright, Tom Harley, Andrew Mackie and Brad Ottens, they all played their part today in securing the win.

And congratulations to the FIVE Glenelg bred players who played today...

Now RH, do qualify please!
Were they:
All born in Glenelg (or in the Council Area)
All played juniors at Glenelg
All poached from your country zone or elsewhere but your doing an "England Cricket" trick and now claiming them?
or
Did someone in their family know someone who once went to Glenelg Oval to watch the Bays play?

I personally wouldn't claim Boak and Salopek but the other five have all played underage footy at Glenelg....

And no need to brag about one of the winning coaches (Leigh Tudor) tried to have a kick @ the Bay as well.
And one of the losing team coaches floated around for a few years as well/
