What would happen if .....?

Why is there not a rule that says no-one is permitted on the playing arena until the game is concluded at any quarter? You always see officials coming onto the ground by the coaches' boxes after the siren when a player is having a kcik for goal. My concern is that what is stopping them goinmg down into the goal square and getting in the way? Anything? Where are they and where are they not allowed to go?
Also why don't sides practice the human pyramid so that after the siren they can line up 10 players high to stop the ball? Is there a rule agiainst that?

You can only have one player on the mark, so that rules out the human pyramid. It would result in a 25m penalty automatically unless he kicks it then the score would stand.
I suspect if the official got in the way then there would be rules stating that they would be fined, suspended and almost certainly forfeit the game (and possibly more points).

No the pyramid is on the goal line and the player is 50m out.
Re the officials - what is the definitiion of "in the way". If they are allowed on the ground, which are they are, where are they not allowed to go? No rule I bet! They should not be allowed on the ground.

Also what would happen if 5 of the say NAFC players travelling to the game next week were seriously injured in a car accident and of course could not play? What happens?

From what I understand officials (like me) can be on the bench with trainers and water runners going on the field when the game is being played at the time. Officials can only go on the ground at the end of each qtr.

They would possibly pospone the game or be replaced by players who are there at the time.

They would have to be replaced I'm sure. I can't see them postponing the game.
And it's probably the umpires discretion whether they're in the way or not. If you can't tell what In the way is and need a rule stipulating the exact distance they have to be away then there's something wrong.
I'm sure they could form a pyramid on the line, but not sure how many players could form one. And then they would be easily pushed over by the attacking team. Might be allowed to but there wouldn't be any benefit from it even if the team could form one.

no pryamids allowed at all. I know of a country B-grade grand final decided by less than a goal from the resultant 25m penalty after the siren

WTF - what a stupid comment to pose?
What happens if it is 5 Eagles players - they play the game regardless. Geez!

A pyramid would take to much time to set up. By the time it's set up, the person kicking it would have kicked it.

Trainers on the ground are subject to all the rules of the game. A free kick would be awarded against their team if they:
Are in the centre square at a bounce
Are in the 50 when there is a kickout after a behind
Interfere in any way with the play if the umpire deems it significant
Abuses an umpire
etc, etc.
Trainers can also be reported if they stay on the ground too long. Interchange stewards usually warn the Head trainer first if this is happening.
You will find that trainers are on the ground more early and late in the season as the weather is hotter and the players need drinks more often.

r&b - the siren has gone and officials just walk onto the ground - you see it all the time. That is a fact.

brooke fogden was injured (not badly) in a car smash on his way to glenelg to play, glenelg had the choice to get a reserves player that was playing the early game or play one short until foggy got there, as it turned out he missed the team meeting but got there before the game started & his performance that day was very very ordinary, which was understandable

The difference is 99.99% of club officialdom would use their commonsense as would umpires. Have you ever asked yourself what would have happened had your father had pulled out on the vinegar stroke, let me save you the thought process, we wouldn't have had to read your post.

The officials only walk from the bench to the huddle in the middle of the ground, after the siren goes.
All officials worst nightmare is to make a mistake that costs the team. The coach is not usually happy in such a case.
