Now who's fault is that? Let me have a wild guess:
The umpires, both AFL clubs refusing to release such in form super stars like Mattner, refusal by 5AA to take SP's calls so he now uses the name "Marty" , the spongy Adelaide Oval surface 'cause we gave up 3 home games to play there, ouwhe he rings in, failure to pay our GST bill, injuries but we do have depth, Not returning to Unley after the first 3 hat trick of spoons, our past 2 coaches in Phil Carman & Sticks Phillips etc etc etc
Seriously if any teams followers can find something to whinge about it will be Sturt!

Its the SANFL's fault for designing a system that favours the performance of the league team rather than the four teams each club has in competition

Why do you play footy? To play at the highest level, the league side is the only reason that the club exists.

Congratulations to the Dogs for winning the Stanley H Lewis, it shows you have depth and a good program running at the club.

I think we know that Sturt supporters would be delighted if it was the other way round: if they had won the trophy but had less victories throughout the grades. Will they ever stop complaining?

Chill out Drebs
A generalization on your last sentence is harsh on those who are tryin to keep a level head - You clearly are not goin to agree with all posters as I am not. When I dont agree with somethin that a poster posts it doesnt mean that all involved or have a passion for that club agree with it !!!
End of rant !!!

Perhaps a silly question but how many times does the club champion win the grandfinal.

3 of the last 7 at a quick look, micky.
I didn't bother doing any more than that as I am sure someone with a spreadsheet will provide a more accurate answer quicker than I could.

I don't think this goes far enough in determining the best club - on field performances at four levels are fine but it should somehow incorporate things like AFL Draftees & Rookies, league debutantes (including interstate v local junior), state reps at league, U18 & U16 level, 200 game achievements, crowd attendances, crowd behaviour, spectataor facilities, club websites, tribunal suspensions, player misconduct etc (otherwise Westies are never going to win it) - what do the rest of you think?

I couldn't find it on the new SANFL site, but the SANFL has a Club of the Year award which is pretty much what you are asking about. There is an explanation etc here:
http://footysa.com/index.php?title=SANF ... f_the_YearOnly run for two years so far and Westies have finished 7th and 9th.

North back to back winners but I wouldn't think we could "jag" it for a 3rd year in 2007.
