Calling ALL SANFL Regulars...

OK lads & ladettes, here is your opportunity...

Heard this morning that 5GAYFL are 'calling' the 2 games on Sunday
Let me guess... Wildy, McDermott, Nr. Knowitall & KKKKen

Time to SHOW your displeasure & listen to EITHER Life-FM or RPH whilst at the ground or @ home. 8)
These guys WILL call players other than AFL listed players because they see them EVERY week. :)

Hear hear...BOTH LIFE FM and RPH will give quality coverage of the games throughout. Can just hear the AA call now:

"The ball goes out wide to...err...an Eagles player. Um...who's that, Stud?"
"No. 13...never heard of him, Petrenko? Anyway, goes long to the big ruckman, who takes a nice grab and passes off to MCGREGGGORRR!!!!, who handballs off to VINCCE...oh, the boy's got lots of run, and he passes off to...um, that is...errr...Chickalella?"

Surely AA will have a couple of more experienced (at calling SANFL) guys in the box, though. Depends who is available. Maybe Ben Hook might get a gig? About the only one out there who isn't otherwise engaged.

So Damned if they do, and damned if they don't?

Bleat all year @ their lack of coverage?

Get some and then boycott it?

Would be nice to see them do more than a few games a year, Rushby, rather than coming in during the finals and taking potential SANFL listeners away from two stations that have clearly shown their commitment throughout.

Not unlike the Advertiser this morning. One could be forgiven for thinking that Kenny McGregor and Nick Gill were the only two players playing in the SANFL finals this weekend. :?

Not at all !!!

Bleat ?? Absolutely !!
They don't give a 'flying f**k" throughout the year but...
As soon as they haven't got anything to cover, they arrive @ SANFL Finals !!

Pfft...

Let us NOT forget, their promos say "In Adelaide, Number 1 for Football"

Only when it SUITS them !!! 8)

So next time they interview an SANFL player at 4.50 pm on a Monday I should switch it off?

Next time they interview an old champ for 'where are they now" I should leave the room?

Next time Rowey spends 25 minutes talking about the SANFL on his Sunday sports show, pleading people to go that day to see a game I should be grumpy as it lessens my opportunity to whinge about SANFL coverage?

I have shown full restraint for over a week but I can resist !!!

Lets say that 5AA has jumped on the band wagon as well !!!

Your restraint is commendable BB but NOT unexpected due to your team's 'performance' in recent weeks

Of course not, Rushby - in fact, they probably deserve a media award for their clear commitment to the cause, ahead of outlets like LIFE FM and RPH

Sure, they do a bit here and there for SANFL, but let's be honest - are they number 1 for SANFL? Flat out making number 3 on their efforts in 2007.

How many people ACTUALLY listen to Rowey's show ???
(Apart from sturtpeter of course)
I would hazzard a guess, not really a ratings winner

Come on lads .... 5AA make no secret they are mostly an AFL show - that's a business decision they have taken and they have been very successful as a result. So what? 96% of the callers want to talk AFL - I hear about 1-2 SANFL related calls a night. They never try to sell themselves as being the place to go for SANFL news so why get upset about it?

They still have regular interviews with SANFL players. I have heard Chambers on there twice this season.

They have said all year that if scheduling allows they will cover SANFL games, now they do it and we are having a hernia about it?

It's like getting frustrated because they don't talk SANFL on 'Footy Classified' - how often do they talk VFL on there?

Brush the chips off the shoulders I say ....

Their ratings this year (including Sundays) are as high, if not higher, then ever so I hear

Gets a run on my radio whilst in the garden on Sundays. It is mostly entertaining and not informative and if you treat it that way it is an enjoyable listen.

Exactly. Who has a bigger audience, 5AA or 5RHP? When 5AA talk about the SANFL more people hear about it than when 5RPH do. Why is getting info about the SANFL out to a bigger market something to get angry about?

=D> =D>

I can understand where a couple of posters are coming from i.e AA only doing SANFL due to no AFL on Sunday, what about the rest of the year etc etc BUT IMO, any coverage at all, the more the better I say.
Perhaps the AA listeners will actually tune in on Sunday and hear what REAL footy is about, and that can only be good for the game.
If they enjoy the call, which they may not of listened too, then they may come to the footy to see what the fuss is about....

The post did say "REGULAR" not 'New' 8)

I have no problem with 'new-tral' people listening to them... if they must.

It's about LOYALTY to the cause & a chance to SUPPORT those stations who are there EVERY week... not about AFL v SANFL... if you want a VIABLE commodity (community radio stations), then SUPPORT them & their sponsors !!!

They havent covered even one game this year, they had agreed to cover a North vs South match and with a couple of days notice notified the respective clubs that they would not be bothering.........

Naturally we all want the largest audience possible for the SANFL finals, yet it seems unfair that 5RPH and LifeFM have put in all the hard work all season and 5AAFL sweep in and get all the glory with the majority of listeners. Maybe they should get to toss a coin between LifeFM and RPH and see which call they get to rebroadcast rather than calling it themselves!
