This is proabably a good question to ask spell and I would like to have a debate about this. HAs this season seen the most recurits enter the SANFL?

Also what do people think about so many players coming from interstate to play here. Note that this topic has nothing to do with Salary cap or Import rules so dont talk about them here. Just interested to hear what people think, ie bad idea piss them off or good for the comp.

Not even close, in 2004 there was an 79 new arrivals at SANFL clubs.
So far for 2006 we have 51.

lol, South did have a few in 2004, 13 all up.
So did Port.
North had 11.
West had 10.
Glenelg had 9.
Eagles had 8.
Sturt had 7.
Norwood had 5.
Central had 3.

Also my figures of 2004 include AFL mini-draft players, North and Glenelg both got 2 that year, the rest got 1.
So take those 11 players off and a fairer comparison would be 68 (2004) to 51 (2006).

Fair enough just seems like alot of players coming in.

I could only grab 2004 quickly (in draw next to my computer by coincidence) but its no different to any other year, just a bit more paranoia beind spread than usual.
Still got a couple of months to go before the season starts though! My 2004 figures were as of Rd 1 2004.

Just looking at the ins/outs for 2004 I find it interesting that 3 of the bottom 4 clubs when it came to an infux of players ended up in the top 3 spots.
Brings back the old notion that teams have to "blend" together before going places.

The blending problem only really happens if you go out and recurit an entire team. A good example of this is South Adelaide, the sort of blended but the problem was when things got tough they couldnt work together to pull themselves out of the S***

I would say that our recruiting has been slow but steady - a few every year. This year would have to be the biggest recruiting year for a while - to replace the retirements and other outs.
