Cornes strange answer to South problems

Answering a caller to 5aa about why South have had such a shocker of a year, the genius responded by saying that the time taken from the city (where most players work) to get to Noarlunga has an effect on the players performance. What the....! Once you get down either South or Marion Rds the Southern Expressway takes you directly almost to the oval gates and at 100kph non-stop. Therefore i argue that a South player leaving work in the city to attend training would arrive quicker than an Central player to Elizabeth and would be only 20 mins difference for a Glenelg player to crawl down Anzac Hwy in peak.
While on the media, the heading of "why would South bother to turn up" in the Advertiser again confirms the club remains the fancied whipping boy of the SANFL with tacid approval from the SANFL who would love an 8 team comp with South the best to pick on. We have been poor this year, no doubt, but over the past 20 years there are other clubs who have colected more wooden spoons than South and we won't collect this years. So that headline could be appropriate for other clubs, but no, hang it on South.

Friday's Advertiser pre game review. I understand the sentiment however there is a club below us and that sort of headline have never been applied.

Darley 16, congratulations on being the last poster on this board who cares about South in 2007

Hey I care! I sometimes wonder why giving the player’s apparent attitude.
Cornes is an idiot. So why didnt this travelling have any effect a very similar playing group last year when we made the Semi-finals? Pretty far fetched really.
As for the headline on Friday, I agree that it was in pretty poor taste. Sure, they explained in the article that that is the bookies point of view, but I still thought it was pathetic and disrespectful.

Yep, tabloid journalism at its best last friday. It was probably the same clown who announced to all that "Torrens" had a good win on Saturday.

At the lunch on saturday our club made the point that we felt the article headline was disrespectful to South Adelaide given some players would be wanting to impress re 2008 and South have been able to push us in the past.
Then at half time with 4 goal difference we needed to do something to stamp our authority which we did.

Werent south training there last year(south played in the finals), or has the distance between the city and noarlunga increased this year from last year?
Not 1 grand final appearance since 1979 is too long, they are not doing things right on the ground and for too long south supporters take comfort in knowing that other teams(like Sturt) have won more wooden spoons than them. The facts are the club has not worked hard enough to be better on the ground. Not good enough for a club with so much cash and in some ways they get what they deserve.

Must be reason why South players get shown Glenelg first when get recruited!! I thing they also train there in pre-season.
As for driving from city to Artic Pk why wouldn't you just catch the "reliable" rail system?

Yes there is a club below South, but on form West have been putting up better shows over the last few weeks than South have.
I believe South this year have done enough to "earn" a wooden spoon this year but just like Sturt last year, were lucky that a club below them won less games.
Norwood in 2004 won 4 games and got the wooden spoon, although it was thoroughly deserved, there was a lot more spirit in the team than South this year, and was never on the receiving end of 100+ point thumpings.
(Some performances by the legs this year though were "wooden spoon" type)

So because West have showed more Heart than South in the last few weeks they deserve to be ahead of them do they? Give me a break...
If you dont win games you dont climb the ladder, it is pretty simple..
South have been Pathetic this year but West arent much better as we can see by the ladder.

Based on last Saturday against North - West would be beaten by around 5 goals by South IMO.

Funny I tought West palyed better than south did against the eagles .Well in the first half anyway .West pushed the Eagles upto halftime but didn't score another goal until late in the last term.South scored three after halftime so Im not sure who would win maybe a draw.

South were 4 goals or so down against you last Sat at half time. West scored 3 points against us for the entire first half and trailed by 77 points at half time and trust me North were no that smooth in the first half and worse after half time and still won by 103 points.
I think you can work out the basis of my previous comment based on this post?
