Torrens give South a thrashing
Article from: AAP September 01, 2007 07:53pm
WEST Torrens has kept a firm grip on their top-three position beating South Adelaide by 103 points at Woodville Oval today.

In a reasonably slow-paced game of football, the Eagles demonstrated their hunger to win through slick execution of skill, and good use of turnovers.

A damaging third quarter was marked by Mark Passador kicking four goals - of his total six - and Nick Salter kicking three.

The Eagles back line was impressive, managing to divert South's limited efforts away from the goal square and still create spare players to take control of the ball when the Panthers missed their target.

Ben Warren put in an admirable effort, kicking four goals, but he was alone as the rest of South's goal scorers were singles only.

Unforgivable, but as a merged team I guess you are going to get that now & again. Still, not good.

Understandable stuff up if it was 1991, but the bloody merger was 17 years ago.

If you're going to get the team name wrong, at least call them Woodville. Nobody disliked Woodville.

No pic Hondo IMHO the jumper looked good when the team ran out onto the ground. But it was very hard to see when on the other side of the ground blending in etc.It also from a distance looked like a hawthorn jumper or so my lad thought.

Thats the same thing we EAGLES fans have been telling losing teams fans ,when we are reminded of the merger after most of our clubs wins.

Two unsuccessful teams formed one moderately successful team. Perhaps Centrals should be divided into "Salisbury" and "Gawler" for the sake of the SANFL and a 10 team competition!

The difference is we do it to "stir" you lot up knowing it annoys you but the Sunday Mail is just plain ignorant. Disgraceful would be a good word to describe it and hopefully the WWT CEO is on the phone tommorow to remind them.

why did the Eagles have "Hills" emblazoned on their chest on the weekend?
I thought it was a '72 jumper?
No sponsors on jumpers in '72- North have always got that part right with their Heritage jumpers...
