Why would Port Adelaide care to bring a sponsor to provide coverage of the SANFL?

Unless by Port Adelaide Rucci means Port Board Member and McGuire Media CEO Cos Cardone?

Exactly what would the SANFL be getting for $1 million?

It all sounds good, but like many things SANFL, lacking in the detail.

Negotiations for sponsors to bankroll the SANFL's return to commercial television - for the first time since 1991 - are down to one final backer that has been brought to the talks by the Port Adelaide Football Club. The deal could be closed by next Friday.

It also should spell the end of the SANFL's association with the non-commercial ABC which has carried state league games exclusively since Channel Nine stepped away in 1991.

I reckon this is about the 10th time (literally) in the last couple years the Advertiser has said that Channel 9 stopped telecasting the SANFL in 1991.

The last year Channel 9 telecast the SANFL was 1992.

Classic case of if you repeat the same thing enough times it becomes fact and people believe you.

Yeah because the whole world simply loves sitting down to watch a Saturday afternoon Blockbuster between South and West at Noarlunga, played in front of 2 men and a dog.

Yeah, scrap the coverage all together, huh? Cos it's only the AFL that counts.

Do bigger crowds make the game better on TV?

Yes they do. I believe it is referred to as atmosphere.

I'm not backing Rucci here, but perhaps it is meant to read that they stepped away from broadcasting in 1991, but as they were committed to a contract for 1992 that was honoured?

Yep how exciting would a crows v power reserves game be with say 5 listed players on each team due to injury and the rest will be 18 yr old unknowns with 2 left feet that no one wants

After a couple of belting the front running Cows supporters will soon drop off

Given the Crows really aren't a club to call the people who attend their games 'fans' is probably incorrect

i believe the correct term for people who attend Crows games is 'Marketing Opportunities'.

Any chance all teams will get 3-4 games on tv?

... or will we get 12-14 cow or power games?

I'll be pleasantly surprised if its equitable.

Yes, there will be 2 men there, but you wont be.
