Agree. The fitness of some players who didn't have much of a pre-season (Symmons/Cicolella/Colville) should improve, but the on-ball rotations is the key as too much is relied upon too few and players such as Treeby, Salter and Powell are exhausted by the last quarter because they are expected to do too much.

I'll put my coaches hat on for a moment...

The team I'd select next game would be:

F: Fitzgerald Passador McGregor
HF: Hentschel Grocke Petrenko
C: Jarrad Salter Hicks
HB: Powell Schwarze P Stewart
B: Colville McEntee P Fiacchi
R: Dabrowski Treeby Rimington
I: Fairclough Malinovski Symmons

Ins: Malinovski, McEntee
Outs: Roberts, Jacky

Going back to doggies4eva's point about on-ball rotations, this is how I'd go:

Rucks: Dabrowski (swapping to the bench, taking most of the ruck)/McGregor/Schwarze giving McGregor and Schwarze some stints on the bench later in the match
Ruck Rovers: Treeby*/Symmons/Petrenko
Rovers: Rimington/Fairclough/Colville*
Centres: Salter*/Powell*/Malinovski/P Fiacchi
* At least one of these players has to be on the ball at all times.

Jarrad I'd keep on the wing. It was worth a try with him in defence, but his disposal and penetration to deliver the ball inside 50 is more valuable from the wing and he is a goal-kicker and a natural wingman. Paul Stewart is the perfect rebounding half back flanker so have him take Jarrad's spot.

McGregor and Schwazre I'd use as 2nd ruckman. Schwarze especially as another midfield type - but give him plenty of breaks on the bench. McGregor could be useful with ball-ups and resting deep in the forward line occasionally, but would prefer him mainly at CHB.

Petrenko I'd use on the half forward flank. Use his pace and defensive pressure to keep the ball in the forward line and give him an occasional run on the ball.

Fairclough, Symmons and Grocke need to step up another notch to keep their spot. Roberts and Jacky not doing enough to warrant a spot in the side.

McKenze and Cica still to come back in the side and hopefully Klun and Wright can put on some pressure for midfield spots later in the season as well as Broadbent and Davoren when they get back from U/18's.

Apart from that its just a 4 quarter sustained effort needed and that should happen if the players are managed properly on match day.

Eagles have too many injured players coming back that have not had a sound pre-season. Lack of fitness is killing us in the final quarter.
Cicolella - two ops and now a bad hamstring. With these setbacks we are unlikely to get any decent football from him for the rest of the season.
Symmons - hip op. no pre-season.
Jarrad Wright - groin op. didn't work......so another op.
James Stewart - ankle op. now a pulled hamstring.
Rimington - smashed jaw.
Denis Redden - smashed jaw.
McKenzie - cartilage op.
Recruiting has been an absolute disaster. Not one recruit has made an impact. Most of the recruits have been injured or homesick and have left.
Eagles need to radically overhaul their recruiting strategy and have an indepth look at their training and rehab. regime. We have been shackled with a huge injury list over the last five years and never been close to putting what you could consider our very best team on the field.
To throw a further spanner in the works, after the Centrals game, three league players are taken out to play trial matches for the state U18.
All the above has led to the Eagles not being a settled and cohesive team, hence the poor results.

You got that right about recruiting. The only interstate recruit of note in the past two years has been Schwarze.
