Weakest excuse. Ever.

the Bays had NO Crows or Power listed players today.

And where were all the Dogs supporters today?

Would have been at least 80% Bays fans.

Bandwaggoners,mostly

Get over yourself Rushby, you were the home side so of course you're gonna have the crowd majority in your favour...

Gees, some Glenelg fans love to carry on about crap even after their side has had an exciting win against a good side, move on FFS and be happy with your win, look forward to next weeks blockbuster with North and stop dribbling shit..

I wouldn't throw the bandwagon line around too lightly either rushby, I bet there is a HEAP of Bays supporters who have come out of the wood work in the last season and a bit after some good showings and strong improvements from the Tigers. Don't throw stones mate...

By the way, the comment re the mini draft was just in response to Woolpack who stated that Central have huge depth. That is a fallacy. The fact we miss out on players from the mini draft through finishing at the top of the table is just a minor point as to why our depth has weakened. The main point is that a lot of our 'depth' has left to go to greener pastures as they have seen their chances of getting games at Central very limited. It is a fallacy to say that we have huge depth nowadays.

Centrals has been a good side for many years now because they have had the depth to cover injuries to good players. You cannot be certain that even with these 3 players in the side today that centrals would have won.

That was my point BDP I don't think you have the depth you once had!

Brilliantly said Bulldogproud,

By no means would any team be talking premierships at this stage, it would be ludicrious to do so. The competition seems as tight as it has been for quite a few years now and i think it's due to the fact that other teams are slowly reaching higher standards as well as the Dogs levelling out just slightly. I think your point Dutchy is a tadd of the mark, because if on song and at his best, Ian Callinan can be a match winner with his own boot and is more than capable of kicking between 5 and 7 goals regularly despite beong quiet (and injured) in recent weeks. We certainly missed Nutta out there today but if you throw in Chris Gowans who can kick 3,4 or 5 himslef and Thommo kicking the odd goal here and there playing on ball, before you know it Dutchy, you have those 5 - 10 goals BulldogProud was talking about. You see what I'm saying mate...

Anyway, I better get stuck into typing up my match reports now, I guess I will be back on here later tonight with my final edits...

Big Phil...

If your 3 missing players (amazingly I thought it was 21 v 21 today) give you 5-10 goals you will win the flag.....thats all Im saying...

Bit of pressure on Callinan there, 5-7 goals per game for the rest of the season, will be the first to congratulate your prediction BP if it happens......

Gees, you're quick to make smart arse responses despite not reading the facts aren't you Dutchy...

I said Callinan is MORE THAN CAPABLE to kick a bag of goals REGULARLY, not every bloody week you fool...

You should know mate, you have got a similar player to Callinan in your own side with McConnell who obviously proved his worth with 5 goals today. My comment was not a prediction of what's to come but an opinion mate, that's where someone says what they think of someone or something. I'm not quite sure you know the difference in the two but then again...

Well you must do, you have put across a few stupid post here tonight which have to count as an opinion because although it was dumb, you said what you felt or thought about someone or somethink.

Once again, get on with things mate, let it go, your team won, move and and stop carrying on like a pork chop...

Big Phil...

bulldogproud wrote:As a footnote, just wondering if someone could explain which Glenelg player touched Dutschke's 'goal' in the first quarter. I had the binoculars on it and he picked the ball up to the right of the pack and threw it onto his boot with no Glenelg player on that side of the body. Yet the umpire claimed it was touched off the boot. Am still bewildered about that one.

Was probably the same umpire who claimed that Ware (?) marked the ball when it clearly bounced out of his hands and fell to ground, allowing him to notch up the 'dogs first goal.

Out of curiosity BDP, how many AFL blokes are listed on the CDFC player list?

True, Pseudo. Although having said that, the umpire did not pay the mark but signalled that he was paying a free for a push in the back from the Glenelg defender. In my eyes, it was a very soft free kick that should not have been paid.

Jabber, there are a few home grown ones (two Westhoffs, Giles and Symes) but I think you are referring to ones we have gained from elsewhere. I think that Danny Boyle and Jonathon Griffin would be the only two we have gained through the mini draft.

One might consider that a bonus, what with the meddling and general stuffing-around from the AFL clubs which accompanies a mini-draft recruit...

The sometimes inconsistant but always improving Ryan Williams was picked by the club in a mini draft Bulldogproud...

Also, young promising reserves player and local lad James Moss is listed with the Adelaide Crows but he was drafted from Centrals into the AFL, not picked by the club in a mini draft...

Oops, forgot about Williams.
So I guess I need to concede my point re the mini draft having an impact as we have eight AFL listed players (five from our own nursery and three from interstate).
I guess the reason for our lack of depth nowadays is more the 'fringe' players having left to seek greener pastures.

I hate to point out the obvious, Philby, but I reckon Rushby was calling the Bays crowd bandwaggoners - not the dogs fans.

Woolpack, that is why I thought your statement re us missing three players today not having any impact on the side was erroneous. Due to the current lack of depth (which you have acknowledged) it will now be harder for us to cover players. However, that is something that we will just have to do. Injuries will happen.

Spoke to smaccer today, about the CDFC ressies losing, and he said as much about the depth at Central. BUT. From what I saw today the three kids that came in for Callinan, Thomas & Gowens did a good job. Central like Glenelg didn't have a passenger al day.

Steiny has had no issues with his shoulder in an attempt at a comeback but has had a couple of soft tissue battles in the last few weeks straining his groin a couple of weeks ago and having a claf issue before that I think...

He played in the early game today, but once again his ageing body seemed to let him down with Nathan looking like he strained a hammy in the second half of the reserves game. But G, I wouldn't be gloating about your prediction just yet mate...

Although he is struggling a bit at the moment, it is only round 6 and there is still a fair chunk of the season left for you to be proved wrong mate...

Let off on the poor guy anyway, how about just focusing on your own team ahead of their up coming clash with an impressive Bays outfit...
