If = not likely. As for him possibly being far too good for this comp, I don't think so. I could think of a dozen players better than him playing in the SANFL plus he has had all summer to get right for round one and he is in the Ressies 'cause he lazy and not committed and getting by on a past reputation something the top SANFL players don't suffer from.

Also, a lot of the SANFL players dont have a quarter of the skill Byron has. Take away a few big bumps he has done in his career, he is still an extremely skilled player.

I don't reckon anyone is doubting that, but he relied on a turn of pace to exercise a lot of that skill and that is gone by all accounts - as I said earlier, he'll need to show more respect to the standard of the comp to dominate it.

I am very interested to see how he'll go this season. At worst, he'd added a bit more spice to the comp, at best, he'll be a great player for the pies. Also excited by the addition of Thurgood, think he will be a very good pick up.

He should dominate this comp yet for the reasons you've stated drebin he won't, you are spot on. =D> =D> =D>

It is a good argument Drebin and I am not sure Byron (as someone mentioned) has given the competition the respect it deserves. He is well aware of what it takes to get top the top,say what you will about him but a Norm Smith in a winning GF cant be taken off him.

I am hoping, for the sake of the 'Pies cause he wakes up and attacks this season, and perhaps another with the commitment he needs to ensure it is a success for him (and he doesnt tarnish the reputation he has as a player) and for the club to achieve some success.

Byron was a great player but like alot of footballers at times lacked/lacks motivation, he has attitude/behavioural issues that certainly dont help him................
when Byron is good he's fantastic, when he's bad he's attrocious.......

but still love the guy coz i think he really could add to the SANFL.....

Can't be taken off him alright booney, that is why he has to stand up & show some faith to a club that is showing faith in him & lead by example to the young players that look up to him, i bet he's their no.2 highest payed player behind J Clayton & your talking 50K, to play SANFL thats a joke & train when it suits him.
If he doesn't pull his finger out i'd p!ss him off.

Byron is like many in the comp Cupido, McConnell, Ladhams, Handby who if they showed the committment equivalent to their talent, well they wouldn't be in the SANFL.

Not worried about Byron playing good footy for the Magpies consistently he has shown by his absences from pre-season that he is not 100% committed to the Magpies cause - he'll say he is but if he was he wouldn't be in the shape he is right now.

In two years time he'll be playing back on the Eyre Peninsula and he will be lucky to play 2/3rds of his two years in the 1s at Port.

the footy world has passed you by Byron...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

To commemorate earth hour we will be switching the lights out at 8:00pm at Elizabeth Oval tonight if Port are in front. The result will be a draw due to inability to complete the match.

If I were a Port supporter i would be spewing that Pickett isn't playing in the league side tonight, bloody pathetic effort from him, he has had all summer to prepare for round 1 but alas couldn't come up for it, shows no respect for his team mates or the high level of the SANFL comp, bloody lazy git.Just because you have played AFL Byron don't think you can waltz back in and dominate in this great comp, it doesn't work like that.
