Well according to SANFL website ... Sam Gray can play for the Puffs this weekend making him ineligible for SANFL finals, but they can then apply to SANFL tribunal to over ride said rule and have him play!

What do you think will happen?

"As it stands, star midfielders Kane Mitchell and Sam Gray have qualified for the SANFL finals series.
However, if they play for the Power against Fremantle on Saturday at Adelaide Oval they will no longer have played a majority of games in the SANFL this season.
Therefore, they will need to apply for permission to play in the major round via the SANFL’s Permit Tribunal.
All SANFL clubs playing finals also have the opportunity to apply for a permit if a player’s failure to qualify has been brought about by injury, sickness or any other reason deemed relevant by the SANFL Permit Tribunal."

Mitchell was dropped last week

Then I guess he can play, but if Power select him this week then he won't be able to play the remaining finals.

It is ridiculous. This week is SANFL finals, if they haven't qualified prior then they shouldn't be able to play this week even if dropped. A final should not count as a qualifying game if the AFL team is not in the finals.

EDIT: Sorry I read it wrong they have already qualified so the final would not count to the number of games played in SANFL.

Whoops. Turns out the PAFC website was prematurely triumphant.

SANFL website today, noting that 17 players have actually (definitely) qualified:
"As it stands, star midfielders Kane Mitchell and Sam Gray have qualified for the SANFL finals series.

However, if they play for the Power against Fremantle on Saturday at Adelaide Oval they will no longer have played a majority of games in the SANFL this season."

PAFC website yesterday, under the heading "Nineteen AFL players qualify for upcoming state league finals":
At the end of the 2015 minor round, the following players meet those criteria:
2. Kane Mitchell
...
46. Sam Gray.

So right at the moment, 19 are qualified. So, nothing premature about it...yes?
