Ultimately he is going to improve the most by rucking against league ruckmen something he thought he wasn't going to be able to do at Port Magpies so he moved to increase his chances of playing agianst the best ruckmen in the league to improve his own game. Pretty simple really.

As a ruckman with limited ability (and height) my ruckwork would improve too if I was put into an SANFL A grade side still doesn't mean I will make it as an AFL Ruckman - which is what Lobbe wants to do.

The irony is I reckon the boy would be playing A grade for Port v West this week (Maric has gone up) instead of ressies for West v Port. ;)

To drag this debate down further :D - when i last saw him in April Lobbe looked like a one iron with ears. Maybe he's gone to Westies to learn how to eat from Damien.... ;) ;)
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If you improved then wouldn't you be a better chance to make it to the next level :? .

I would think Batson was ahead of him at Port anyway.

Which speaks volumes of where he is at seriously when he is perceived to be behind a failed AFL rookie. Batson is an out this week as i said he would probably being playing league at Port.

Look we are going to agree to disagree. As I said the only potential long term winner out of this is Westies not Lobbe.

Westies always take it up to Port & nothing will change this week only the result will be in favour of Port 31-40.

Fair enough we agree to disagree.

Would Port have picked him or would Micklejohn just have rucked by himself?

Maybe West having no recognised ruckman is why port plans to ruck Meiklejohn alone which can be very dangerous especially if he goes down early.
Clinton is rucking in the Bs as Batson is injured, would of been good to see Batson ruck against Lobbe though.

Where he plays this week isn't very important. I think there's a longer-term view in picking him up now, but I'd guess he'll be playing league very soon, certainly quicker than if he'd stayed at Port Magpies.

Considering he's playing Division 3 or something similar I'd sure as hell say it didn't go forwards! :?

I think what Booney's getting at is the sort of person that takes the easy option out is usually the sort of player that will not go on to having any impact at AFL level and in 99% of cases that has proved correct.

So a bloke who has 115 games of AFL footy didn't go forwards? Can you define what is going forwards for a footballer? Or is retiring going backwards?
