Editted from the CEO's (Chris Davies) message to members - check club website for full details

From an on field perspective, we are continuing in our efforts to assemble what we believe is a squad that will have the ability to challenge in 2009. We have secured Ken McGregor and Rhett Biglands after coming off of the Crows list and have recruited Jay Cheep, a hard running midfielder, from Geelong in the VFL.

We have today selected Mitch Banner and Sam Martyn in the SANFL Mini Draft. Banner was selected at No. 42 by the Power in the AFL National Draft... Martyn forms part of the Crows NSW Scholarship list.

Once our list is finalised we will make you aware of all changes from our list in season 2008.

A total of 5 Eagles players were taken in the National and Rookie Drafts. Matthew Broadbent, Jarrad Redden and Glenn Dawson were all drafted by Port Adelaide. Importantly for the club, they will continue to represent the Eagles when not on duty with the Power. Chris Hall was drafted by Fremantle and has been taken under the wing of a former Woodville West Torrens player, Matthew Pavlich and Christian Bock was also Rookie listed by Essendon.

The Club wishes all of these players the very best of luck with their careers moving forward.

At the Eagles Bar and Bistro at 722 Port Road, construction has commenced on an extension to the Dining Room which will allow us to seat an extra 30 patrons in the future. This extension also encompasses a new Smoking area and will be completed by the end of January 2009. It will also provide a small function room for up to 50 people.

We (CD1 & CD2 , Col D & Chris Davies) would like to reiterate the importance of as many supporters transitioning across to members in season 2009 as possible. Membership provides you with an opportunity to have your say on how your Club is run and provides your Club with the tangible benefits associated with a healthy, vibrant and increasing membership list! Should you wish to enquire about membership or to become a member please contact the Club on 8347 2444.

Our AGM is scheduled for Thursday the 5th of February – we hope that you will put the time aside to come to Woodville Oval and have your say on how our Club operates into the future.

Annual Reports have been posted to members.

Sadly it isnt good reading as our on field performance in 2008 wasnt as we wished and neither has the $ performance - sadly we report an overall loss of some $350,000.

Members if you wish to discuss happy to receive PM but wont have public discussions here - have reported here as is public information.

Please read the Annual Report carefully and please do get to the AGM on Thursday Feb 5th to have your say and ask questions - one of the reasons you need to be member so you do get the Annual Report and get to vote at the AGM.

Im guessing thats maybe because of the work being done at Port rd. , losing that much ! Im assuming the Board has seen this coming for quite a while and could explain the reason why the Eagles chose to compete in 08 well under the salary cap ! ! The overall loss might as well have been $420,000 , and with 2 extra senior players , had an exceptable go at the Flag again . CD2 must be having an interesting time of it , getting up to speed on last seasons aims and performances . CD1 , its going to get a bit hot in the old kitchen me thinks !

There was a point made in the Report about the new smoking laws making a difference in patronage. That's probably contributed to every club making less this year. Fortunately for us, the Eagles Bar on Port Road is already being addressed to cater for that.

As mentioned it must be Ryan Jackson and by the process of elimination (only delisted player left) Clint Benjamin

Doubt it would be Westbrook. My guess would be Potter.

That would be terrific if Westbrook does play this year. He, Skipworth and Potter were the three biggest losses after 2006.
