SUNDAY AUGUST 16TH
2.00pm - Port Magpies v Norwood @ Alberton
2.10pm - Port Power v Carlton @ AAMI Stadium

Who put the Magpies v Redegs arch rivalry as the sole SANFL Sunday game to go head to head with the Power?

Norwood also get a five day break as they play North in a Friday Night game in Rd 21.

Eagles get stiffed again - we have to play Centrals three times again this season and twice at Hamra Homes. I seem to recall this happening 2 or three times in recent years. I don't mind so much the fact we play them three times but twice at Hamra Homes again seems ridiculous. What about Woodville for a change. Other than that fairly happy with the draw.

Next time (2011) we should get two matches at Woodville, as this table shows the number of matches played at Adelaide, Elizabeth or Thebarton/Woodville, since 2001:

2001 1 1 1
2002 1 - 1
2003 - 2 1
2004 - 1 1
2005 1 1 1
2006 1 - 1
2007 - 2 1
2008 - 1 1
2009 - 2 1
Total 4 10 9

drebin wrote:from Sunday May 3 to Sunday July 12, we host one match at Prospect - one match in ten weeks !

Then to saturation point - five home games in six weeks from July 12 to August 16. If it ever happens to rain again in Adelaide resulting in a cold wet winter, our oval simply will not cope.

(Actually I'm quoting from Drebins quote).

One match in ten weeks. Nine weekends actually, and one is the State Game weekend and two others are byes, so its one game in six. Adding the games either end makes it three in eight and about normal. A home run of five games in six makes up for it and could help steady them for the run into the finals. Still it does seem silly going from one extreme to the other. The league should've been able to do better than that. I think the board was making sure the supporters where aware it was not happy or responsible for the uneven draw.

The point about the ground is valid. I don't think any of the SANFL home grounds would wear that usage to well if wet.

As for the round 23 bye, any team outside of the finals. True, they may make the finals, but are not likely to go straight to minor premiers hence copping a double bye such as Centrals have had twice I think, the last time 2007. Giving it straight to the wooden spooner is not a bad idea.

At the moment it looks as though come round 1 you can get your club knowledge up on day 1. Well for most clubs.

WA v SA, St v G, E v CD are looking lile they are going to be quadruple headers on the saturday with the 16's, 18's, reserves and League all playing at the same venue with games kicking off as early as 8:30am. Now that will test out even the most enthusiastic supporter.

And how well the grounds will hold up after 3 or 4 games of footy !!!

Thankfully it's early on in the year so we wont have boggy, heavy grounds. Will be interesting how they handle the scheduling of this scenario come the wetter winter months of the footy season. It may end up going to the format like previous years with the Under 17's and 19's, they just play at the alternate sides gorund to the league and reserves.

I think the order will vary depending on when the league game is scheduled.

of the league games one is a night game so no way a game wil be after that, another is a twilight game so I think that the league would be the last game as well. The other is a day league game so they will have to play one after the league.
