Hows the beautiful and moving tribute by his wife Sheree in the paper today.
Everyone at work wondered what was wrong with me when I read that.

Luckily I was the only one in my office when I read that section of the paper today. Definately choked up

I only hope now that the predicted weather holds off until after lunch on Thursday for the funeral at Coopers.

Goodness this is a bit of a shock, I actually thought he had beaten this. How very very sad and my thoughts are with Lee's family and friends.

I was sitting at a cafe in Semaphore having a coffee when I read all the tributes to Lee, but like Wedgie, when I read what his lovely wife had written, I too chocked up and had a tear in my eye. I showed my fiance when I got home from work and although she has hardly any interest in football at all, she was tearing up herself after I told her a little bit about Lee and the battles he went through.

Again, it's so sad that he lost his long standing battle and I wish all involved the best for the funeral on Thursday, hope the weather holds off for it, would be fitting if Coopers Stadium was basking in sunshine throughout the service.

It touched me too, Wedgie. I can not make the funeral but I hope it's a day of celebration for a beautiful man.

Yes, Round 18 2005 in the Reserves. He asked for permission to play one more match for the Redlegs in the Reserves, and that was granted. He kicked 2 goals in Norwoods win, 10.17 to 8.4.

Yes I attended Lees' Funeral and I can honestly say, as good as funerals can be, it was up there with the best.

I was given the honour of sitting with Lees' family and then walked with his coffin and then the hearse as he was given a lap of honour of Norwood Oval flanked by the players and officials of the teams he had played for.

The weather was ideal, sun shining, until the last rites were read, when the one cloud in the sky blotted out the sun, only to disappear for his final lap.

All speakers gave us an insight into the "real" Blakey with both humour and tears.

The funeral was a first for Norwood Oval and the club can only be thanked and congratulated for the privelege and support they gave Lees' family as should ALL attendees on the day, many from rival footy clubs.

Berry Funerals provided a very professional and caring service.

I personally would like to thank you all for your kind words via this medium. I have printed them all and will give them to Sheree in the near future with a dvd package of his games.

I was present for his first day at Norwood, his first game, his last game and then for his last moments on this earth. I can honestly say to you all that I have never met a more likeable, loveable and genuine young man. I have been blessed with his memory and will always hold him dear in my heart.

Thankyou all for your support.
