Great initiative by the club. A large number of Bulldog players over the years originally played in the Gawler/Barossa Area. For those who don't know: South Gawler will play Gawler Central before the CDFC vs Eagles clash.

13 of the Reserves players have played League - it's looking more potent with Robbie Fiacchi, Hentschel and Petrenko back in the side. Hopefully we will see Colville back in the League team soon.

Hey All,

I think this is a real danger game for the Dogs this week. I reckon the Eagles have really hit their straps and they have a pretty potent, tall forward line. I'm a tad concerned about our lack of height in defence (as I have been since pre season when we lost Nathan Grima) and I know that we currently have the best defensive in the league statiscally but I reckon with Passador, Grocke, Salter, Schwarze or McGregor as forward options, it worries me that Sibba, Richie, Haysey, Switty, Schelly and Willow are not tall enough or possibly strong enough to match their opponents.

In saying that though, the key to most big games is the midfield winning enough share of the ball to minimise the amount of attacking opportunities by the opposition. I think selectors made the right decision bringing Jon Giles in and dropping the out of sorts Earl Shaw. As has been the case in most of the CDFC v WWT battles in recent years, I think the midfield contest is where the game will be won or lost. Of course we will once again miss Nutta, Chris Gowans and now Slatts rotating through their but I think we do have enough options available, assisted by Thommo caoming back in, to match or better the Eagles on-ball brigade. I reckon this is probably the Dogs most important game of their year to date. A win will hopefully consolidate our position in the top three however a loss will bring us further back down the pack, but this is of course depending on results of the other games.

I reckon we will see a pretty fired up Dogs outfit run out on Saturday night and I'm quietly confident that if we can play 4 consistant quarters, including more attack and confidence as shown in the 3rd quarter againsts the bays last week, then we should hopefully have a tight 2 or 3 goal win. With slight aprehension, I'm tipping my team with the margin of 1 - 12. Regardless of the result it is set up to be another cracking game of footy and make sure all Doggies fans get out early to watch the Gawler South v Gawler Central Barossa League curtian raiser at 3.45pm.

GO U DOGGIES...

Agree Big Phil - this is an important game and will be difficult.

We haven't played 4 quarters in a game this year but if we can against the Eagles we can win. These games are usually close in tight games with scoring at a premium and when we have lost Passadore has usually caused us problems.

Am looking forward to a good contest.
We used to be good :-(

If Central can stop McKenzie, Treeby, Powell and Passador then they will be a big chance of winning. If all four hybrids mentioned fire, it could be a rare home loss for the 'Dogs.

Of course the chances of all four playing a blinder on the same night are slim, unless when they are up against Sturt

Should be a ripper of a game.

Just got home from having a meal at the club. From what I could see the guys looked great doing their training drills .Didn't hang around long had the entire clan including my parents with me .

Reading everyone's comments you guys are over looking two youngsters who have stood up and been counted this year in Fitzgerald and Fairclough.
Last week Fairclough also went onto the ball when the eagles came back .
And we all know fitzy kicked 4.

He's one of the more notorious players in the league - known for getting under the skins of opposition players. Likes a bit of rough stuff and isn't one of the cleanest or fairest players in the league. It sounds as though he copped a bit of his own medicine.

That's astounding. Putting aside the fact that he has never gone out of his way to injure another player, I can't believe someone actually wishing an injury on a player.

Maybe you misunderstood me smac. I said it sounds like he copped a dose of his own medicine. I wasn't condoning it nor would I wish an injury on anyone regardless of what club they were from.
