All discussions to do with the SANFL

PS I"m going to install a chat room attached to this site before footy season starts.
People can abuse each other or post as much crap as they want in there.
Could also be good for late night drunk warbling.
I thought it would also be a useful addition especially when games are on.

Wedgie wrote:PS Well done Punky, at least you created a topic that is obviously of interest despite me not agreeing with it. Unlike the trolls who just abuse people's opinions/posts while not coming up with interesting topics of their own. It may have been a point not agreed with you made but at least you have more intelligence than those who can only put down others views with mindless insults without presenting intelligent throught provoking topics of interest themselves. Keep up the good work punky!

Honestly guys, if you're just here to put others down whilst not being prepared to post a topic yourselves that make attract criticism or conversation then go back to where you came from.

Common Wedgie. Please!

1. "....created a topic that is obviously of interest". The salary cap topic has been done to death on this forum. We didnt need another thread on it!

2. "....Unlike the trolls who just abuse people's opinions/posts while not coming up with interesting topics of their own". Punky's post smack sof trolling too!

3. "....have more intelligence than those who can only put down others views with mindless insults without presenting intelligent throught provoking topics of interest themselves." RandB summed it up "Probably the dumbest method of assessing each club's salary cap anyone's put up so far."

Is Punky your love child???

In all seriousness though I absolutely agree with your thoughts in the latter posts about not allowing threads to degenerate into kindergarten debate.

1) Its up to 3 pages already hence my comment!
2) Definately smacks of trolling but at least he made a statment, backed it up with facts (dodgy facts but can be debated and have be debated, I myself disagreed with them), not to the degree of just abusing people because he disagrees with them while offering no facts or decent conversation on the matter.
3) I too agree with R&Bs summary and made this clear in the immediate post after it but at least I advised why I thought it was dumb instead of just being insulting.

Christ no, have you seen how ugly he is? :)

Depends on people's idea of trolling I guess, I'd always thought it was in reference to non-regular users who jump on a site to denigrate it without any interest in using it as was intended .. In this instance regardless of Punkys objective with his post (and I'm not suggesting it's anything untoward mate) he's a regular contributor to the site with enough "runs on the board" that he shouldn't come under any consideration as a "troll"??

Lets get back to the topic at hand. Punk has pretty much by this logic WWT are the club that is over or alledgally over.

But your method as stated before does not take into account of the value of the player or what type of player or how good that particlar player is including games played, experiance and more.

But at least someone is out there thinking outside the box. By that i mean the box that contains sane comments :)

My knowledge of player salaries suggests that the difference between a rookies pay and that of an established champion is a factor of more than 10. That makes the counting of players on and off a list a futile exercise unless they are more or less the same market value.

Well some CEO's think it is ironic that little Johnny K whinges at the League table (and in the press from time to time) about other clubs re salary caps, poaching etc but cannot take any criticism when other clubs point out the number of players employed directly by the Eagles or via their Major sponsor plus the Eagles back door methods to speak to certain players under contract: cue - a current North league player approached during the finals by the Eagles but you didn't hear a public whinge from North nor was it mentioned at the SANFL table either. The Eagles will be under scrutiny like everyone else!

That would have to be one of the dumbest posts i've seen. Face it you guys are paying over the cap, even if you aren't doing it South Adelaide style, even Port Adelaide people with brains admit that they look to be over the cap this year, so far all of the Roosters supporters are in denial, get your hands off it. You could've had only 5 recruits eg Port and still be over the cap for this year. Last time i checked the Salary cap goes on how much you pay, not on how many players you have gained/lost. Cheats.....As long as Port and North don't win the flag this year, i'll be happy.

I thought the story went something along the lines of Fuller encouraging Toia to retire?
Let's face it, it would have saved the Eagles some money if he had.

If my mail of North adding at least one more player who was involved with the AFL system, is correct, this thread should become even more interesting :D

You're right there, he'd was told he'd never play league footy again if he stayed at the Eagles.
I'm very glad we got him too as he was the difference between not winning a reserves premiership rather than come 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

I think his assessment is flawed by assuming all teams has used all of their salary cap last season.
There is no rule in the sanfl which states you must spend a minimum of 90% of your salary cap like the afl.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Sorry mate, you just surpassed Punky's post by a long shong when it comes to "dumb".

Wedgie 16th January 2005 wrote:If that's the case then my opinion would be that North are in the shit.

I'm not sure how I'm in denial, but according to you ALL Roosters supporters are in denial, I've also checked with my two kids and I can assure you they're not in denial as they have no idea about the salary cap. I can assure you neither they nor my kids have their hands on it especially my daughter. If your comment was in regard to all of the Rooster supporters on this site only or in this topic only then you've still shown how ignorant you are with my post of 8 days ago quoted for you in a response to salary cap rules.

I just went back through this topic and the only people who even mentioned North and the salary cap was my good self and a Glenelg supporter, this topic was about people who should not be throwing stones (in this case some Eagles supporters), obviously one sconned you in the head! :D

Seriously mate you should spend a bit more time worrying about your own club than making ridiculous non topical posts like that, it just makes you look a dill and for those who like to generalise you entire supporter base dills.

Spot on LBJ23

South Adelaide buying a team in 2005 and North and Port doing the same for 2006. The SANFL is turning into an absolute joke.

I'd rather see Centrals win another premiership than a team full of ex afl hacks.
