Pleaded guilty to rough conduct against Jace Bode. Bartlett argued that the charge be downgraded from Intentional to Reckless.
Tribunal agreed.

The SANFL reported that he pleaded guilty on Bode hit, but was found not guilty. Don't think that is a downgrade, seems to have got off with zero carryover points.

Cowardly act on Phillips which could potentially cripple someone if he landed on his neck. This Sturt boy is very very lucky and deserves about 3 IMHO.

I think Sturt will win and play Norwood in the GF although I hope South can get up.
Good luck Panthers.

We have one camp saying he was lucky with the tribunals finding.

We have the other camp saying he should not have been reported.

Which camp is right?

Watch it for yourself if you can PP. Without wanting to get into an argument I think the Phillips one is more accidental, it looks like Bartlett has misjudged the ball, even Phillips has been caught under the ball a bit, tried to stop and caught Phillips low as he's jumped for the mark. I don't think it was a deliberate case of tunnelling.
As for the Bode one, Bartlett has come in late and got him high. I don't think it was malicious. Certainly not much worse than the late charge on Page which went without a down field free.

That is just the 'terminology' they use, these days...

Did you see the 2 seperate incidents he was reported for, Bounce of the ball?

The tunneling one was not a good look and may only be worthy of a reprimand, but the hit on Bode wasn't good...

Factor in the carry over points system, as it has in this instance, and I think the 1 week offer is fair and reasonable...

Not sold on the "tunnelling " concept ....more like a spider man audition and jumped way too early ! :D

Having watched the replay again, I think Cutterman is right and both Flipper and Bartlett misjudged the flight and ran too far under the ball. Just an unfortunate footy accident that thankfully didn't end badly. The hit on Bode I still reckon he was lucky with, looks a charge for mine on a player with eyes for the ball. It's no big issue, Bodey is ok and you'd prefer not to see a player miss game, particularly a final, so good luck to the lad.

As for this game, I seriously can't pick a winner .. I've rated South all season and still do, but I was impressed with Sturt's ability to both win the ball and run last week, so stuffed if I know. One of them in overtime ;)

SANFL will probably change the rule to whichever side wins the next hit out, wins the game ;)

How can a player be found not guilty for an incident he has pleaded guilty to?

That just defies logic :?

Sturt

Sturt coach Seamus Maloney could take a punt on talented teenager Josh Hone for Saturday’s First Semi-Final against South Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
Hone, who has only played three league matches, is a lively goalsneak capable of pushing further up the ground.
The 17-year-old provides the Double Blues with a significant ‘’X’Factor’’ in that he has great pace and marks well overhead for someone of his size (175cm and 67kg).
Utility Jack Kelly is the other player added to Sturt’s 23-man squad, with two players to be trimmed before the bounce.
Earlier in the week, Maloney – who spoke to SANFL TV - hinted that Hone and Kelly would come under strong consideration.
‘’Our reserves had a really good win in the Qualifying Final so there are a few younger guys like Hone and (James) Rose who are talented Under-18s and good footballers,’’ Maloney said.
‘’And there are some experienced guys there who keep putting their name up like (Tom) Hurley and Kelly so there is a bit to discuss.’’

F: Watt, Coad, Hansen
HF: Calabrese, Duldig, P. Wilson
C: Krause, Tambling, Gore
HB: Harms, Stephens, Crocker
B: Page, Beard, McLeay

R: Kurtze, Greenslade, Kirkwood
INT: Bartlett, Kane, Evans, Hone, Kelly
IN: Hone, Kelly

South

South Adelaide coach Brad Gotch is weighing up whether to recall versatile bigman Alex Cailotto for Saturday’s First Semi-Final against Sturt at Adelaide Oval.
Cailotto, who was unlucky to lose his spot in the side for the Elimination Final, can offer the Panthers great flexibility in that he can relieve Keegan Brooksby in the ruck and play at either end of the ground.
The 22-year-old – who measures in at 194cm and 98kg – would most likely replace former Power rookie Daniel Bass if he got the nod from Gotch.
‘’We know he can offer us a bit of flexibility wherever he plays,’’ South football manager Neill Sharpe said of Cailotto.
‘’If we don’t want to alter our structure in any way, then he gives us that flexibility.’’
Former West Adelaide speedster Matt Rankine has also been added to the Panthers’ 23-man squad, with Gotch again considering his pace across the wide expanses of Adelaide Oval.
‘’Matty’s form was good toward the back end of the season so he is a chance to come back in,’’ Sharpe said.
‘’He offers us another option in that he can play forward or back as well while covering the ground really well.’’
Co-captain Josh Thewlis will take his place in the side despite suffering from cramp late in the Elimination Final victory against the Eagles last Saturday.

F: Gulden, Overall, Liddle
HF: Rolfe, Eddy, C. Daniel
C: Rose, Macleod, Veide
HB: N. Daniel, Thewlis, Murphy
B: Fields, Crabb, Dale

R: Brooksby, Gotch, Cross
INT: Bass, Seccull, Taylor, Cailotto, Rankine

IN: Rankine, Cailotto

Reckon we can get over the double blues .

Going to be a extremely tough contest but if we can hold a few of the key players in their side .... We will get over the line.

South by 21 points.

Just so excited to see us doing well this year. Been a bloody long time .

A settled team the past 4 or 5 weeks has certainly helped. Cailotto was showing steady improvement towards the end of the minor round, so wouldn't be disappointed if he got the nod. Another big task for Crabb and Fields this week, Coad being the difference between the sides earlier in the season.

South by 8 points.
