No chance

I'm with Thiele here he is a permanent member of the crows side and despite his foot injury is one of the fittest so won't have a problem fitting straight back in.

With Ben Warren back in the team at full forward and Adam Cockshell at centre half forward I feel better about our forward line.Throw in James Turner,Peter Rolfe, young crow draftee Shaun Mckernan and Jak Kennedy-HUNT and we "should" have the ability to kick a good score.
We will need a big lift in the midfield to have a chance to win this one!
No more practice matches here, this will be a fair dinkum guide to how are respective teams are travelling even though it is early days!
Lets hope all the westies and south supporters get down to Noarlunga and make it a good atmosphere for the clash! I know both of our clubs do not have a truck load of fans, but if we cannot manage to get a crowd of around 2000 it would be very dissapointing!

Our two clubs are always targets for all other to condem our crowd numbers, so to ALL South & West folks get to this game, no excuses this Saturday, anything under 2000 and we can all expect the usual abuse.

Great news. Gee, he's got to be one of the best recruits in the league. I know he's a bit different to the average recruit seeing as though he's from Westies originally and he was re-drafted by the Crows but he's going to be a great player and will provide great service to the Bloods.

Yes i agree NFC i am still surprised that Vossy cut him from the list. Although i believe he offered him a rookie spot but he declined because he was confident he would get a spot on the Gold Coast list after a year with the bloods.

Bloods, schmidt was offered a spot but declined. He took the chance that the crows or power would pick him up. He was homesick and wanted to be around his mates and family after he lsot his best mate in car crash early-mid last season. He was willing to give up his AFL dream to do so.Will thrive this year with the bloods IMO

Can't wait for the after match fallout from this blockbuster. The winners will no doubt bring out all the favourites such as "revival", "new era" and god help us "finals"!

And to think it is only round 1!

And when North lose, their board have no idea. The coach is a dud and someone will crap on his desk....

North, pacesetters since a GF appearance two years ago, oh but we have lots of money....

I agree with everything you say re your first line but I will correct you in saying that the majority of our Board have no idea most of the time - win, lose or draw.

As for pace setters since 2007 please show me where I mentioned or even hinted at that??? Surely you would realise, being a South supporter with a worse club culture and history than North, that a club like North who are happy to be mediocre in most aspects on and off the field could hardly be any sort of pace setter???

I think that the best sides to have drawn each other in the first match of the Season are South and West, both sides have done very poorly in recent years and have been giving the "rebuilding" line to their members. The team that loses this match will have few excuses to give to their membership afterwards and I think that the loser of this game could well be the candidate for the spoon in 2009, which I hope might give each sides supporters some more encouragement to go and cheer their side on!

Westies have flogged South in the last two matches and they seem to play well at Noarlunga Oval, so it would be a reasonable pick to go for Westies in the footy tipping, yet on the flipside for a change South have retained most of their list from last season and added to it with several good recruits which might suggest that the club has the capacity to improve on last years results depending on the levle of improvement at other SANFL sides this season. Its for that reason that I am tipping South as I feel the team has the depth to win this one!
