Chambers is a dead set cert for FF Big Phil?
Vlatko and Warren are around the mark on the goalkicking list with Chambo and Schwarze if form is the prime criteria for selection.
Steve Bradbury and Michael Milton. Aussie Legends.

Surely if fit, Backwell is in front of the ageing Gowan boys and Vlatko = NO chance ;) ;)

Think you're right Bayman, definitely not state material (personally I think it would be interesting to see Vlat's at Central or North, where he's not as high in the pecking order as he is at Norwood ... Norwood = lousy place for forwards)

If you want to come up with a suggested side of your own, you can change that. It is just my thoughts and yes, no doubt, a tad Centrals bias but I am going with players in form.

And with Backwell, IF FIT, I would have Mouse in the side for sure...

But as you know he is out with a shoulder at the moment and was probably not setting the world on fire in terms of form before Todd busted his shoulder. Time will tell if he is in the side hey...

Chambo certainly not in the best form of his career in the early stages of the season, but surely he is too good a player to not at least make the squad. Big and imposing body and proven goal kicker has to be in his favour in terms of making the side.

Agree and agree...

Backwell should play if his shoulder is okay and finds some good form in the next few weeks...

There is still another 4 games to be played for selectors to look at so we will just have to wait and see I guess...

Two players that u have missed.
one is a certainty - Chris Schmidt (crows rookie list). been in the best every week for the bloods and has dominated.
the other. Ryan Ferguson - surely he is a big chance. Bailey though, i would doubt he will make the squad

You are right about Schmidt being in great form but I wouldn't think he is a certainty to make the final 22, certainly the initial squad. It may depend on the AFL clubs releasing the players to play in the game, but again, time will tell.

Probably too mnay tall, versatile defenders in better form than Ferguson for him to make the side but also a squad possibility I reckon.

Agreed. And I've got four thousand emails to prove it.

I can't see Vlatko getting in the squad myself either - just contemplating the results/form so far this year of the 4 primary goalkickers in the league.

Anyone gotta tip for a surprise selection this year - an old salt or a young buck - who might just get a game or a debut game?

Come to think of it if the squad get a bout of gastro on game day Big Phil, they may be looking for an extra 'travelling emergency' or two at very short notice!

I know of 2 fellas that will be in Perth for this game so they may just get a gig !!

Plus I know they are both staying at the same hotel as the players so they may be able to spike their breakfast and get a state game to boot.

 ;)

Both need a run in the reserves let alone being picked for the state team.

And some say that he would start in their team if he proves to be over the shoulder issue and has some form leading into Perth
