SIT...

There are some Doggies fans out there that feel the same BUT a Premiership is a Premiership, doesn't matter who you beat I say...

While it would be "sweeter" to beat the Maggies, and nice revenge, the 7 flags we have won will always mean everything to the club and it's supporters...

Failure
Would it be a failure by the Doggies not to make the GF????, surely a team has to drop off once and a while, even in the Ports & Sturts Golden Era's there were lean periods. With what Centrals have given their fans and the comp can they actually FAIL????? Id say No, Id take a finals appearance for my side in the next two years

While we continue to have stability on and off field, Roy Laird in charge, The Gowans Twins, a core nucelus of quality players and some youngsters coming through the grade, YES, it would be a failure if we didn't at least make the GF in 2009. We had lean years through our dominant decade, we did lose 2 GF's in this 10 year period.

While all good things do have to come to an end, I think we have 1 more year in the tank to win another flag, then there will be a big out going of older players and we might then fall back to the pack. Who knows, only time will tell of course, and alot will be determined by the quality of players ourselves and other clubs recruit.

I would be personaly expecting to be playing finals at a minimum - with some good recruits for the midfield already named I don't think top 3 is unrealistic.

I'd agree with that, hard to know where we will finish next year before knowing full ins and outs but i would expect the club to make finals, but not do enough to make top 3.

I would expect Norwood to be top 3 next year, especially if they pick up a quality key forward.

I actually go completely the opposite. Taylor Walker tore us a big one in the final but don't expect to see him in Red and Blue next year unless there's a yellow stripe as well. On the other hand I am very pleased with the progress of the Port Adelaide juniors. The defence is solid, Clive will go around again with good support from Brad Mercer and Jordan Barham up forward, and there are a couple of nice pacy inclusions through the midfield, eg. Isaac Weetra.

Port to finish Top 3 and from there anything can happen in the finals.

Expectation this year must be to win a couple of finals.

Missing the finals would spell the end to Ginevers job.

i have a feeling the blues may drop a notch or 2, i will go out on a limb and say that north and the eagles may replace norwood and port in the 5, and i would love to see a gf without the dogs there - just for a change, hopefully the tiges can break their 23 drought

Yep, that's my name buddy. Don't wear it out.

Why shouldn't Port be confident of progressing through the finals. They were 4th come end of the minor round last season, certainly haven't gone backwards in personnel, and are doing some selective recruiting to improve the squad.

Because they don't actually win finals anymore? Just a guess mind you.

I hate to see our DVD of Westies highlights lol, suppose there was a loss to Centrals in a GF

Going out on a limb, pooh canning Norwoods when a club like Ports has failed to flatter in recent times either, You would nearly put both sides efforts on even par being fair from a nuetral party.

Both clubs in 2008 really improved and are back to the heights we more expect

You're right Beenreal. Those two Elimination Final losses of Port's this century are a staggering achievement to be envied.
