Centrals are in the GF will keep the crowds down this year.

If it was Sturt v Bays 35 plus.....not sure about Central, matbe less than 30K.

Now give it a rest mate because you are doing yourself no favours. Norwood were beaten by a better side today, and in the other game Centrals stood up when it counts. End of story.

Those who bag Centrals for being successful should maybe look to their own side to step up.

I see where you are coming from NFC and most have missed your point, the GF will be robbed of 5-10k Neutrals who wont go cause the Dogs are there (not the Dogs fault, just a fact of life that some people are bored with it)

I hear what you're saying. Unfortunately, it is difficult to express these feelings without sounding like you're having a go at Central District. I realise it's not personal, it could be any club who played in 9 Grand Finals in a row, not just Central. Unless you support that club, it becomes tiresome. Central can only try to make the GF each year, they've done it, and all power to them for that.

I'm selective of what I say because I am still very disappointed with how the Redlegs played today. However unless my mood improves over the next week or two, I won't be taking any interest in the PF & GF. Not because Norwood aren't there, but because of the sameness and apparent inevitably of the outcome.

I have survived the Sturt dominance of the 60s, the dominance of Port Adelaide, and now this. It does wear you out after awhile and the interest dwindles. IMHO, the SANFL competition really needed a Glenelg v Sturt GF. It won't happen, and the Grand Final will lack imagination, except for the supporters of the participating teams.

You can't help how you feel, whether people agree with it or not.

A difference this season is that Central have not been the standout team that we had been in previous years. I think a lot of neutrals would love to be there to see if we can be knocked off.
Also, if Glenelg make it, it will be their first GF for a long time so I would hope that would bring a lot of supporters.
If Sturt make it, then there should also be a great crowd. Central have never beaten Sturt in a GF and I am sure many will be there to see if Sturt can do a 2002 again.
In my eyes, no excuses for not attending the GF this year.

If you want to stick to SANFL go back just 2 seasons to 2006. Eagles looked a basket case after Central flogged them in 2nd Semi Final, somehow they recovered beat North in the Prelim and then long awaited GF win against the heavily favoured Bulldogs.

If Central were 8-0 in Grand Finals this decade you may have a point. But they are 6-2, they can be beat.

I used to see the same criticism everytime the Eagles would emerge from the pack as the team (sacrificial offering) to take on Central in GF.

In decades to come (hopefully the SANFL will still be a league to be proud of) we will reminise about the dynasty that was Central District in the 2000's.

Some may not think their record deserves comparison with Port in the 1950's, Sturt in the 1960's etc but I disagree.

In my eyes Central's has been better. Winning flags in the modern SANFL is surely more difficult than decades past given there is somewhere for you best players to go onto.

Those looking for variety should note that in their last 9 second semi final wins Central have beaten 6 different opponents. Only Norwood and South have been saved the wrath of a loss to Central in the finals.

Please note the two times Central lost a GF it was off of a big Second Semi final win when they were the hottest of hot favourites.

For me it's not about them always making it to GF day. I think we should all envy what they have created. They are certainly a very strong football club. But It's more about the way they play their football (and a minority of SFB supporters) that gets to me. In footy terms they are very defensive and the flood was evident again today. The trick is though that they turn defence into attack better than any other club, and have done for some time. Score >90 points against them and more times than not your team will beat them...that's all there is to it. And it's not only this year either. The type of game required to beat them calls for precise skills and very quick movement, as Sturt did to them twice early this season. The fact is Centrals have only scored >120pts once this season, Sturt have done it 5 times...Turn it into an open shootout and they will struggle.

If Sturt go down next week I will definately be supporting the Bays in the GF. I honestly think that we have a better chance of knocking them off though.

You have a point Adelaide Hawk. I remember calling the 1999 GF a formality because Port were in it yet again. I can understand some neturals being a bit bored of Centrals dominance. It's not just isolated to the SANFL as well - I recall Formula 1 ratings plummet as Schumacher continued to dominate and they've never really recovered.

Having said that, it's more the other 8 clubs fault for not being able to challenge Centrals. Also, the argument would have been more valid in 2006 when it was the third straight Centrals v Eagles GF (and 5th in 7 seasons). And as has been already said, we've played 6 of the 8 other teams in finals since 2000.

All up, this has been an amazing run by Centrals and is surely one of the most successful eras for a club in SANFL history.

One can only look to the Doggies with admiration - they are leading the way.

Neutral fans with the run of CDFC v WWTFC in g/finals certainly started to stay away.
With North last year there was a boost in numbers at the g/f and hopefully for our league we will see 30K+ with either the Bays or the Blues having a go at beating the Dogs.

The make up of the U19 and Ressies will also have a bearing on numbers on G/F day.

Having missed the finals for the first time in 9 years it has been very strange watching as a neutral fan - Up to us to come up to the bar that CDFC seem to raise almost every year!

I do wish that they'd play the GF at Adelaide though. Even with 40,000 at Footy Park, the atmosphere can't compare to Adelaide oval with 30,000...

Basically, you are right. Other teams have to get serious and build a team around a coach and players who will commit to becoming fit and well-drilled, and disciplined, not only on the field, but also in their lives between matches so they are in good condition. The lazy and the chronic drunks have no place in a successful team.
