Because it seems that the Crows are pencilled in for the Saturday afternoon slot if they makes the finals, no matter where they finish - 2006 (1st), 2007 (8th), 2008 (5th).
If the Crows had drawn St Kilda then they would have played on Sunday as the Saints needed a 7 day break. Whoever they played was going to be the Sunday game this week. The last few years are just a coincidence.
Having said that, you can count on only 1 of the 4 finals being on the Sunday so the SANFL round 23 scheduled on Sunday would be less likely to need to change. So your idea sounds good to me.
It's unfortunate it's Fathers Day but remember one of the great SANFL games was North v Port on Father's day 1989 - over 30,000 people went.

I actually said that myself, that every day should be Fathers Day. And Mothers Day, too.

You hit the nail on the head spelly.
Crows v Cats touted as Saturday arvo.
Crows v Collingwood touted as Saturday arvo.
Sounds to me like the AFL w@nkers want the Crows on the Saturday No Matter What, and screw the state leagues. Just one more reason to hate the AFL in my book. Beats me how anyone here can stomach that sad excuse for a football league.

I'll bet London to a brick that the ABC were pleased to change (and may have even pushed for the changes) - having Nwd vs Glenelg on Sat up against a Crows (home) elimination final would not have been ideal for their ratings. Also, changing 3 games to Sunday gave them the chance to switch games and cover the Port Eagles game (a pre-elimination final!).
