I probably won't remember too much, as I will be pissed, thanks to The Roosters President's Lunch & Wally Karpuik.

You should have given me more notice, I could have booked a couple of seats and met you there with a free seat for someone else! :(

Are you going?

Totally agree with you Smac re Steinberner. I'm so happy to see him back in the league side, thoroughly deserves his position after playing a great game in the 2's last week. Could just be like a "new" recruit for the rest of the season if he holds his spot and his strength, experience and pace might just come in very handy on the quicker decks come finals time. Good to see Schelly back in as well, just hope his groin is 100% ok and we aren't rushing him back in just to cover Matt Westhoff (if he does in fact make his AFL debut for the Power this week ?) because with wet weather predicted and a bye next week, the extra weeks rest would ensure it is okay, would hate for him to come back too early and do it again before finals. Great to see Louis Hadden starting on the wing, asuming that Ryan Williams is also another AFL debutant this week.

Very much looking forward to this week's game, just hope the poor weather doesn't last all day. Still sticking to the Dogs by 4 goals...

Peter Rhode on 5AA now reading out the Power sides and has said that Damon White, Peter Burgoyne and Troy Chaplin are the 3 ins for this week while Nathan Lonie, Toby Thurstans and Greg Bentley were omitted so will play for North, Sturt and Sturt respectively.

This will mean that Ryan Williams and Matty Westhoff SHOULD be available for the Doggies, unless one of them travel to Melbourne as an emergency. I hope Steiny still keeps his spot in the league side if these 2 AFL players are available. The Crows have made a couple of forced changes with Porplycia and Knights out injured and have named an extended squad with Brent Rielly, Jarad Petrenko, Graham Johncock, Andy Otten and Kurt Tippett coming in with John Reid saying that Reilly and Johncock are the likely 2 inclusions in the side.

Sturt seem as though they will be best served by AFL selections this week having Bentley, Thurstans and possibly Rielly coming into their side while the Magpies fans will be dissapointed (some not so) that Johncock and Burgoyne will be back in the AFL having only played the two SANFL games and just missing finals qualifications, to this stage of the season.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I think that as long as Williams and Westhoff are available to play for the Doggies, this keeps them just in front as favourites for the win in my eyes. I really hope Steiny gets to play league like I said earlier and maybe of Westty and Willow do play in the SANFL this week, Louis Hadden or even Luke McCabe might be forced out and hopefully we rest Schelly for that extra week just to be sure.

Big Phil, what rock have you been hiding under for the last month or two to come out with a statement like "as long as Williams and Westhoff are available to play for the Doggies, this keeps them just in front as favourites for the win in my eyes".
If they are just favs that means the betting would be $1.80 v $2.00 and any bookie agency would get knocked off their stands with the rush to back the Doggies.

Rain, wind, hail or snow or all of the afore mentioned will not stop Centrals winning easily with the ground conditions being the only factor possibly keeping the scoreboard from being embarrassing.

Trust me mate, there wouldn't be a rock big enough for me to hide under  and I said it was in my eyes only. I have seen EVERY Dogs game this year and a couple of North games live and on telly and it is just my opinion at the end of the day.

I agree about the conditions effecting the scoring capabilities, of both sides I might add, but I'm one to not count my chickens before they hatch mate so I guess only time will tell come 5pm Saturday arvo and we will see who was right and who was wrong hey G

I take Big Phil's reservations on board but I agree this looms as an easy victory for the dogs. North aren't without hope, and if we rock up expecting them to roll over then they will have a very good chance. But I can't see Roy Laird letting that happen. Nathan Steinberner's return will be a massive emotional boost for the dogs and the week after his return (if it ends up happening) may be the one we drop off a touch. But given our improving form, improving run, a touch of depth returning with Matty Westhoff emerging I think we would be disappointed if we didn't improve on last week's performance.

North have been poor this year, and there's no hiding from that. To make a GF and at this late stage of the subsequent season looking less and less likely to even make the finals is a dismal failure. Not over, but the season is on life support and the family are about to pull the plug on this one. That North side looks one dimensional, week and lacking the depth in quality needed to do the job at this level. 6 changes is massive at any stage, and teams rarely recover from that sort of disruption. The unrest off the field MUST take it's toll on the field eventually, and perhaps that has more to do with this season's performance than Jars would care to admit.

It's amazing how often this sort of script is written for a game. One side with everything going for them and everything to play for. The other going from disappointment to disaster week after week. Every club has been there, and every club would count their wins under such circumstances among their greatest. A North win might appear unlikely (and getting within 10 goals will be an ask IMHO) but should they do it suddenly their whole world will change.

pretty much yes.

north are *in poker terms* should be taking it as a freeroll and will give it a red hot crack.
there is a chink in the dogs armour as we have seen this year, and if north can be with the dogs come 3quarter time, can get the chocolates.

The 'dogs have been outscoring sides after "lemons" for the last four or five weeks. A six goal break early in the last quarter wasn't enough for Norwood a few weeks back, although a quality side like Sturt were good enough to hold the Bulldogs out by a couple of goals after leading by six at the last change. I think even if North are any where near Centrals at three quarter time this week, they won't be by full time.

Over their last four respective matches, both North and Centrals have averaged around 21 scoring shots. North have averaged 64 points against Glenelg, Norwood, Eagles and South; the 'dogs have averaged 81 points, all against the other (current) top five sides.

Dogs by 7 to 10 goals on a (predicted at this stage) wettish day.

I think that our mid-season implosion (which we seem to have every year) ended with the Eagles loss.

Since then we have gradually been building our intensity player 2,3 and even 4 quarters last week. My faith in Roy says that this is the grand plan to peak in Sept/Oct and give the flag a real crack.

If I am right the dogs will be very good against North. 4 games until finals! 8)
We used to be good :-(

For those that are interested, here is the Doggies second's team...

RESERVES:
Aufderhiede, Barmby, Boyle, Brading, Dimasi, Dunne, Foldesdy, Giles, Hudson, Hynes, Kelly, McGrath, McShane, Moss, Officer, Porter, Shaw, Spurr, Trevena, Whiley, White

Possibly expect a couple of changes to the side if Matthew Westhoff and / or Ryan Williams play league for Centrals, obviously pushing someone back to the 2's.
