Plenty of discussuon of the game on the Roost by people had been critical, personally my biggest gripe is players like Thompson and Motlop weren't given a go earlier, looks like my thoughts have been justified as they were awesome, Im very excited at the prospect of watching them in the league side for the rest of the year.
Im just shitty because I had $100 on the Eagles!
Yet another win against the Eagles when we're underdogs, they are our bitch recently, that's for sure.

Thompson and Motlop were possibly the difference, the two quickest players on the ground. Something we used to be renowned for eariler in the decade - pace, with the likes of Darzanos and Holland in the side.

We have pace (Petrenko, Stewart, Jarrad) but they are all played in the back lines!

Who else to put there though? I think we do have one key forward too many, and one permanent key back less. Fitzgerald has got 21 goals now this year (2.6 odd per match) and is doing quite well, but is not overly quick. He's still first choice in the forward line though, great player, and probably Petrenko should be in the other forward pocket.

Where was Fitzgerald recruited from? He's had a good year so far.

The win was good in terms of the last two games plus we got off to a good start and battled it out then ran it out to win but there are some issues still IMO. To save repeating myself this is what I posted on The Roost prior to watching the replay:

Good win - we showed some intensity from the first bounce and fought back all day when behind. I thought our midfield pressure and clearances were good today and some improved performances by some players who have been down recently.

Still some concerns, we looked 1 tall player short in our backline all day, specially when Macca got moved fwd. I didn't think he did too bad on Passador although the stats and goals conceded will tell another story. Cunnigham gives an honest effort all game but is just not big enough to mind the taller fwds. I was suprised by Alleway starting back and White starting fwd. Turned out that Alleway gave his usual 100 percent performance at both CHB and CHF and when he got shifted fwd that was the defining change in the game - he was my BOG over the whole day.

I still think we need a Grose or dare I say it a Schubert in the backline although how is Schubert going to get back into our defence when he plays CHF in the Ressies?

Alleway needs to play at CHF all game every week, Macca is a defender although he did well at FF despite some misses with his shots he gave a good contest. Damon White looked lost today moving up and back but he is entitled to one average game given his season so far. Gilly struggled until late when he was able to run around a bit and he is just going to get better.

The inclusions of Thompson and Marlon Motlop showed what some youth and pace can do. Both earned their stripes today.

Archard played a very good game - especially his second half which I thought was fantastic and he was instrumental in 4 of the goals in the last 1/4. (and after watching the replay he was BOG just in front of Allleway).

Ward - great game plenty of mongrel and experienced decision making and he proved that he is fit and up and running finally!

Clarke - despite lacking match fitness showed he has some mongrel and guts and was crucified by one of the poorest umpiring decisions in the North-East pocket today but to hius credit just got on with it.

Younie - a great game (as usual), a class 5 goals and is our "Mr. Clutch" at times for us and has proven over a long time just how valuable he is.

Sporn - keeps on keeping on and I wonder if one of ex-coaches who is now in charge of the State side could possibly include Sporn in the Squad.

Matty Wright is showing that he is a very good on baller now as well as a nippy fwd but unfortunately for us might be lost to the AFL come seasons end.

I think Brett White and Ryswyk are struggling presently to hold their spots - especially when blokes like Delvins are knocking on the door and Lads still to come back. (Added): I'm still not convinced about R. Ebert either

Overall a good gustsy win and let's hope this is the spark that gets us going and prove that if the players give a decent dip then we, as supporters will take the losses with the wins week in week out.

i thought & i mentioned it to wedgie at the time & that was the reversed kick late in the 3rd quarter, north went down & got a goal from it & immediately got another one i think that was definately the turning point of the match as it went from a possible 5 goal lead to a 2 goal lead at 3/4 time

spelly, when was the last time a forward from one team kicked 8 goals in a losing match against the same team twice in a row ?

(schwarze round 1 & passador round 9)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

That was just after Alleway had been moved to CHF (despite palying very well down back) and he was instrumental in that last gasp goal as he took the grab, played on and found Younie right on the siren. I think it was Alleways move (with a little help form that reversed decision) that turned the game for North.

Hardly an inspiring move by the coach to put the best CHF in the SANFL to CHF although in terms of the game and how it was going I suppose he made the move at the right time. What he (Jars and we at North) would give to have 2 Alleways.

Next time out he needs to start and leave Alleway in the fwd line. Whilst we have White and Gill in the side I would play White at CHB (as the Power wish in any case) and leave Gill up fwd or better still, bring in Stewart for FF, drop Ryswyk and play Gill as a wingman / half fwd. He seems to enjoy that run around role more these days?

WTF goes through some coaches minds at time?
Stuff me Ron and Andrew.
Eagles outplay North for most of the game.
North move the best CHF in the league to CHF and the Eagles move their full forward who'd kicked 7 or 8 goals out to Half Forward and suddenly North are the better side and the Eagles are the worst side.
Am I missing something? Surely its NOT ROCKET SCIENCE?????

Also I think Fuller made a big tatical blunder when Damon White and Alleway were swapped. MacGregor was doing a good job on White and should have been moved to CHF and having the same player to stand. Alleway had much the better of the match up on MaGregor and White looked okay and got a bit of it at CHB after having a poor game to that stage.

Just finished watching the replay of the game as I couldn't get there yesterday. A few key points I took out of the game:

Late in the 3rd qtr - P.Stewart kicks forward to a leading Passador who is being held and scragged by Ward (no free) :? . Ward then dives on open ball gets tackled by 2 Eagles players (no free) After a North inesgretion the umpire finally chooses to pay us a free kick only to seconds later reverse his original decision. Soft reversal mind you  From the ensuing play North go forward Alleway kicks to a leading Younie who marks after the 3 qtr time siren has sounded - mark gets paid Younie who goals. The classic 2 goal turn around and it means instead of going into the last qtr with momentm North has it instead.

8:14 4th - Thompson tackled by P.Stewart who doesn't attempt to get ball out (no free) :?
8:41 4th - Kreg wrapped up in a fantastic tackle by Powell (gets paid high) :? (no holding ball) resulting play sees North goal and lead goes to 8 pts.
18:17 4th - Gill gets tackled by P.Stewart (no free) ball spills out and North goals lead goes to 14pts.
22:59 4th - Mcintyre has possesion of ball over the goal line (point not called) :? steps back in play handballs to Younie who goals and lead goes out to 20.

All of these decisions were crucial and are probably the main reason between winning and losing as an end result. Bet you North supporters aren't complaining about the umpiring this time around   .

My Best Players: Passador, Fitzgerald, Rimmington, Colville, McGregor.

Passador has the biggest influence of any forward in the game yesterday and kicks 8 goals to extend his season tally to 30 goals at an average of 6 per game to be the best in the competition. How can this guy still not earn state selection. Darel Hart you are a joke.
