The whole HOF concept is imported American crap, unfortunately the people who make the decisions won the war in the early 1990s and the Victors (victorians) write the history, usually to glorify themselves. I personally don't give a toss about the Crows and Port or any of the other teams that play in our so-called National League, I have never paid to see an AFL match and I never will, although I will take the free food and grog when on the odd occasion I've been invited to attend. I sort of agree that the constant whingeing by some South Australians about the injustice of it all only fuels the Victorian sense of superiority.

Wedgie, there are SANFL books in that store as the owner is a South Australian! He gets over to Adelaide during the year to watch Norwood games.

Yep, last time I was there I saw SANFL books. Santo has a very keen interest in the SANFL Not sure where Wedgie was looking :)

What? The war is over?

I feel like one of those Japanese soldiers they allegedly found in Borneo in the 60s who thought WWII was still going.

Time for my five Cents. We need to look at the bigger picture the AFL is an expanded VFL competition and 2 groups of supporters have lost their clubs. Victoria has always been where the big boys play and always the best played there. Barrie Robran deserves to be a legend in the HOF. I disagree with jezza all he did was coach Carlton to a flag and take a great mark that helped defeat Collingwood. As for Carey, Redden and alot of South Aussie greats they will be in the hall of fame in time. I feel that the AFL still reeks and has something against the player retention scheme of the 80's.
The problem is the SA football commission lies down and lets the AFL tell them what to do we used to have a NFC a national football conference but the AFL has killed that since it became the biggest dog in town. The problem is AFL is the biggest of dogs in the pound they killed off the VFA by moving South Melbourne to Sydney just so they can play Sunday games. Many years ago we had Carnivals, State VS. State and a national football league in the 70's but all that died. Port got in bed with the AFL in 1990 and the Crows were founded by this and what did most South Aussie's do DUMP their SANFL club and jump on the Crows bandwagon.
South Australia has always had an Us against them attitude. South Australia was founded as a free state no convicts whilst Victoria was a convict state. Whilst Victoria seems to move ahead and slow down South Australia has slowed down. The same can be said for Football in Both States the VFL in the 80's moved ahead whilst it took Port Adelaide to kill the SANFL by jumping into bed with the AFL and getting the crows started.

great book shop, I can remember first going there in the very early 90's when it was in Elizabeth St upstairs above a couple of strip joints, all the books were laid out on trestle tables and in cardboard boxes under the tables, it was great for a browse
