The longest head to head winning streak in the league continues 14 in a row. It's true when we say Sturt are the Eagles bitches. Powell played a blinder for mine was easily bog and has justified his selection in the SA state squad. It must be said within the last 2 weeks that the Double Blues have gone from contendors to pretenders.

I wasn't confident about this game going into it mainly because of the bad traits that was shown the previous week. We have lost our intensity, teamwork, hard attack on the ball and with all that we are putting our selves under more pressure. Again we looked slow, slow in pace and in descision making. It's been mentioned before that our backlines are too small, I thought Coad was sure to play this week after the problems of last week. Hard changes are probably due this week and we've got alot of work to do to remain in the mix.
Well done to WWT, a gutsy win after trailing by so much so early.

Sturt were exposed today like last week, I believe West will do the same next week.

Well No-Mercy If west can get the ball away from centre before Sturt does then yes they can beat Sturt. But West will need to do it for more than 3 minutes .
Then again sturt will be wearing that jumper with white in it  and be playing a team with a sash jumper again 3rd week in a row.
Smart money might bet Westies for unpset.
So where is LEH and that Bandwagon ?

I wish he wouldn't, but, I assume he'll come out with a bang. After holding for suspense.

I am pretty sure he hasn't been at the games this year perhaps he went OS.

Well at some stages "cutterman " four or five of your backmen were jumping against Passador .Must say Passador put in a "SUPER ERIC" effort to beat them . Of course the EAGLES played into sturts hands kicking to someone with 3 on them.Just wish they would kick to a free eagles player.

But it put a smile on my dial watching a small forward in Fitzy kick so many goals Saturday.See sometimes us fans are right a small forward can kick a bag of goals .Maybe play closer to Pass at times.

Eagles's stunning comeback

ZAC MILBANK | May 03, 2008 12:15am

WOODVILLE-West Torrens - inspired by skipper Mark McKenzie - came from five goals down to score a remarkable victory over Sturt at Thebarton Oval yesterday.

With his Eagles scoreless and falling 32 points behind into time-on of the first term, McKenzie knew someone had to stand up and be counted.

After starting at half-back, he moved into the centre square and, with the help of senior team-mates Luke Powell and Leigh Treeby, was the catalyst for his team's devastating eight-goal second term.

In the space of 40 minutes, the Eagles wearing the West Torrens famous sash guernsey of the 1980s - had suddenly transformed their alarming deficit into a 13-point lead by half-time.

In the end, they won by 35 points in what coach Ron Fuller described as a ``character-building performance''.

``The thing that was pleasing was that we just stuck to our task,'' he said.

``To come from five goals down and then to win it by five was a very good result.''

McKenzie's eight disposals in the second stanza were extremely damaging as he also slotted through two timely goals.

It was enough to make Sturt coach Rick Macgowan sit up and take notice.

``McKenzie and Treeby were just so clean,'' he said.

``It didn't matter if they were in close or out in the open, they just took it first grab and used it so well. They really showed us up.''

The effectiveness of McKenzie, Treeby and workhorse Powell brought the dangerous forward line pair of Mark Passador (6.1) and Craig Fitzgerald (4.2) into the game, the pair kicking the opening two goals of the second half to place the early premiership favourite under immense pressure.

With Adam Grocke prominent across half-forward and Brad Dabrowski working hard in the ruck, the Eagles marched on to their 14th consecutive win against Sturt, which last tasted victory against Ron Fuller's men in July 2003. In fact, the Eagles' dominance over the Double Blues is such that they hold 37-9 overall win-loss record since their merger in 1991.

Sturt pair Tristan Gum and Greg Bentley worked hard through half-forward and the midfield for the visitors while wingman Charlie Sharples and Daniel Wicks weren't disgraced. But the lack of impact from several senior players meant Andrew Whiteman didn't receive the victory he deserved in his 150th match.

Eagles 2.0 10.4 15.6 18.9 (117)
Sturt 5.2 8.3 8.7 12.10 (82)

BEST - Eagles: McKenzie, Powell, Treeby, Salter, Passador, Grocke, Dabrowski, Fitzgerald, Schwarze.Sturt: Gum, Bentley, Sharples, Sheedy, Wicks.

SCORERS - Eagles: Passador 6.1, Fitzgerald 4.2, Salter 3.0, McKenzie, Grocke 2.0, Treeby 1.1, Daveron, Cicolella, Hicks, Dabrowski, Jarrad 0.1.Sturt: Perrie 4.0, Chambers 3.3, Wicks 3.0, Sharples 1.1, Gum 1.0, Nelson, Evans, Bentley, Sheedy 0.1, rushed 0.2.

INJURIES - Eagles: Salter (cut arm), Jacky (Crows) replaced by P. Stewart (Power).Sturt: Sharples (leg cramp).

Fantastic win for the club - a wonderful effort by the boys given the start they gave to the Blues.

If you havent renewed your membership then the boys gave you the message - get on board - be a member!

Umpires again in my opinion only were very consistent - if you were in front you got the free thus early was Sturt's way but ended up in WWTFC way at the end of the day and given the way the game went makes prefect sense.

Why did Sturt not continue with the free running game that had them 5 goals up? I believe our pressure and mental strength got us through and now the boys know never count us out as we can and will come back - a great win although still concerned about the slow start.

Big Big test coming up on Saturday night - Eagles fans there is a test here too - do you stay home to watch the AFL exibition match or do you get to the footy at Elizabeth and support the boys? I know where i'll be - Woodville Oval at 11:00am for the Reserves then Elizabeth Oval at 6:30 for the game against the Dogs.

Just a question on this match, was it cut off in the last quarter due to all the scoring?

I am still pretty shattered by this loss. I only heard it on the radio but the dominance was very evident even just listening in. After the first 5 goals had been kicked it was just all Eagles names, and they were finding targets, they were running in space, creating the loose man, taking great grabs within range and converting, blahdiblahdibahdiblah, it was making me sick!
Sturt weren't doing any of that save for a brief period in the second quarter when we managed two goals in row. I really think we were lucky to have gotten an early break, other wise it could have gotten very messy for us.
The Blues will bouce back from this, there is too much talent to be tied down for too long. Mark my words the Blues will bounce back!
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
