Hey its not all sturts fault I should have bought subway on the way and I am not going to fade away to nothing
Team sheets early to the game was probably the major thing that could have been arranged .And the EAGLES supplying the right numbers the players wore the day on the oval would have helped no end as well.

What was so disappointing about the canteen? I for one was glad to be able to grab a drink and something to eat without having to leave the oval surrounds.

You could only buy pies pasties and S rolls, some of us are not supposed to eat crappy food like that(thats written for my doctor  ) .when WWT runs home games the rotary club runs a BBQ be it at Woodville or Thebarton.

And yet if we provided soy latte skimacinos with organic wind dried salmon & rocket bruschetta we'd be labelled toffs. Geez some people are hard to please! :)

What the...? No pies ever?
My doctor would need to think long and hard about deciding if he was going to say something like that to me. It's a cruel world sometimes.

Thanks for the write up everybody. Safooty once again surpasses requirement for providing news about the footy.
Great to read something about this year's squad, even if it was a trial, I am just happy to hear that they could all stand up for two hours, let alone impressed a few people.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

zipzap wrote:Can't remember the final score ( no scoreboard) but Sturt won by a fair bit in the end. Turned it on in the last quarter and won by 8-9 goals I'd wager. Very swirly winds resulted in some poor shots on goal, especially from the Blues.

Blues totally dominated first half, Eagles looked aimless and ineffective. 3rd term and Ronny must have had a few words as the Hybrids' tackles stuck and Sturt began to struggle with added pressure. Sturt had a handy breeze in the last but lifted a notch to win easily.

Only paid serious attention to the Blues I'm afraid so better players would have been McGlone, Mitchell Farmer, Evan Hurse, Wicksy and Fittock who was possibly our best all day. Fitzgerald looked the goods in the forward line in the first half but slipped a bit when Chambo eventually came on. Perrie played smart footy (yeah, I never thought I'd say that either) and looked pretty classy not to mention fit. 'Frank' Thring did some exciting things and I like his movement into the forward line. Cubillo was starring early but looked a bit tired towards the end. Herring was v disappointing early but played better when Sarge was benched.

Good signs for Sturt - continued worry is lack of big men should Feasty go down. Apparently Big Fabs is doing ok for the Puffs and we may not see much of him. Angus Kurtze is still a bit slight to carry the ruck. We need Gregory back to FB as well.

In the Ressies it was good to see Hurley get through, McDonald and Andy Read really impressed. Johncock could be that big man I mentioned and Sharples looked like he will definitely get league action this year.

Zip Zap- you wouldnt happen to know how a young fella by the name of Marc Borholm(Sturt) went in the ressies game would you?

I got a team sheet about 5 minutes into the 1st qtr of the reserves, but as normally the case, there were a couple mistakes.

Contrary to the Mail:

Sturt 17-14 (116)
WWt 8-11 ( 59)

Sturt were awesome in the Second and Final Quarters.

Perrie'll be a huge asset if he learns to kick straight

A big year lies ahead for the Brilliant Blues! :D :D

I was with the Sturt Cheer Squad for all but the 2nd. Quarter. Good banter directed at one WWT player who allegedly gave a rather inappropriate gesture back, and it was only a Trial Game.

Sturt hasn't beaten WWT in a League game since 2003. 2008 promises a change to that scenario.

I was impressed with Daniel Wicks and his enthusiasm epitomises the positive approach at Unley in 2008.

I can not wait for Friday March 28th. :)

If it was only a trial game why would you bother to banter in any case then post as if you were upset by a players gesture??? Mind you, in your case I could fully understand him giving you the "bird" if your banter is anything like the dribble you post on here!

Special mention to young Evan Hurse. He has really improved under Rick Macgowan and I had the privilege of seeing Evan's first league game at Glenelg in 2005.

Apparently there was a bit of inappropriate behavior from the Sturt crowd at Unley last year.

I heard some Sturt supporters (ok 1) act inappropriately in the public toilets?

Once Thorntons Sportsbet & Sportsbet read this and the other reports they(Sturts) will be in to odds on, they could start the season as one of the shortest favourites ever  , may be a real long season for all other 8 clubs if Perrie learns to kick straight they might not even accept any more bets on Sturt
