The situation at Norwood at present (and for a while now) is not too dissimilar to where North were not so long ago Wedgie, and whilst I can appreciate some of the points you've made there, I find it incredulous that you would honestly prefer to be battlers than genuine contenders.

Lord knows, I've had enough of it after 5 years and I will gladly accept the frustrations of finishing top 5 over those of the last few years.

Ive always said no difference between 2nd and 2nd to bottom, but hey that's just me and I appreciate Im in a minority looking at crowd figures when teams are winning and losing. Im what you'd call the exact opposite of a bandwagonner.

I am not unlike Wedgie in also finding it more fulfilling to support a side when they are going through hard times. Whereas when you are going well, each loss is a disappointment and the only match you can really get a high from winning is the Grand Final, when your team is not going well each win feels special. God knows I have supported a few 'losing' sides in my time - heck, I barrack for England in sport!!

TB, believe it or not I followed Central far more passionately during the 'hard' times. The successful era even saw me nearly desert them for two seasons: in 2006 I did the stats for the Eagles instead and in 2007 I moved to Mildura. Would never have contemplated leaving them in an 'hour of need'. It really is so much easier to support a side when they are doing well - look at some bandwagons! I stupidly prefer the 'hard yard' years.

It's not just you, I've always thought the same thing, but hindsight is a beautiful thing ... I used to tear my hair out when Norwood won 3 flags from 20 consecutive years of finals appearances, but at least each year for most of it, you had the hope that a flag could be coming.

Having had no hope in recent times was bearable at first as the club bonded together to try to raise the sinking ship, but after 5 years I would gladly trade the current frustration for those of the 80's and 90's.

Everybody loves an underdog though, and when you go to a Nuetral game, you'll usually go for the team you hate least, or the underdog...which in effect I guess is bandwaggoning.... eg. In every grand final over the past few years, I've barracked for everyone that has played AGAINST Centrals

GOd help me if Centrals ever play Norwood in a GF though.. GO the UMPS!
