It's the same as Hawthorn and Central.

Here's the words.

We're a happy team at Westies.
We're the Mighty Blood and Tars.
We love our club and we play to win.
Riding the bumps with a grin (AT WESTIES).
Come what may you find us striving,
Teamwork is the thing that talks.
All for one and one for all, is the way we play at Westies
We are the Mighty Blood and Tars.

Well i have an original 45 rpm record of the Westies song. Iv'e had it since the early sixties, that's when that giant oil company AMOCO sold them at their service stations along with Super and Standard petrol at 40p a gallon. And you didn't even have to get out of your car to fill up. :D You could also hop into Golden fleece service stations and grab a footy sticker for the car window.

i've got some of those records not the 'whole set' though i have glenelg, woodville south & west, i also have the double album of 'sturts greatest era' (or a similar title) & while i'm at it i've got the red coloured record of world series cricket with the theme & team songs on it, i also have records from big races mainly melbourne cups that bart cummings' nephew gave me when his mother (barts sister) went into a nursing home & the family didn't want them while i thought they could be worth a fair bit

Here's my suggestion for another Verse of our song.

We fight fight fight,
Against all the might.

We never ever give in,
The Blues are always out to win...win...win 8) 8)

Obviously for me it is the Eagles song - by far the best - with a soft spot for North's song.

Whilst our song seems to concern other club fans and has been described many ways in this thread I would like to point out we are quite happy to be alongside:

Manchester United who use the same tune for 'Glory Glory, Man United'

The world wide trade union movement who use the same tune for 'Solidarity Forever'

The great soldiers hymn of USA 'Battle Hymn of the Republic'

The sailor's shanty of 'John Brown's Body'

South Sydney Rugby League Club too

and yes for the kids Little Peter Rabbit along with many other poems over the years (some of which can't be repeated here)

A real traditional tune with our unique words.

We have upped the tempo in a slight revamp of the song - heard at the AGM - but not changed the words.

We're the mighty Eagles
And we always battle through
The mighty flying Eagles
Wearing gold and green and blue
Sound the siren, turn us loose
And watch the feathers fly
And you'll see what we can do.

Chorus (sung twice)
We're the mighty flying Eagles
We're the mighty flying Eagles
We're the mighty flying Eagles
In Gold and Green and Blue.

I've probably opened a can of worms but hey that's half the fun
(make fun of our song and you take on the Unions/Man United/the Army and the Navy and a whole lot of kids!!)

I think that we should re-visit "We're the old Double Blues", rock it up, and give it some generation X & Y appeal, in fact I might call Anthony Kiedis to see if the Chili Peppers can cover it.
Let Norwood and Melbourne have the grand ol flag, even though we had it before Norwood.
It's been bothering me for years...ever since 1978, I heard the song start at the end of the game and being a young lad then, I was hoping they stuffed the scoreboard up! Bl00dy Des Foster :butthead:

You are right Wedgie - it has been our song forever - we've only had the one - so everyone else must have pinched it!
