Mic, they only lost one due to the Power. White was unfit.

Well there's more to the White story than meets the eye. Apparently he wasn't all that keen on playing and risking injury with trade week coming up shortly and basically ruled himself out. His name was conspiciously missing from the coaches speech at the after match presentations. I understand there are some very "disappointed" (you could insert a more harsh word there) North officials.

Personally he under performed every other year in the finals with the Power still being alive in some of those years and whilst he would be handy if he was serious and put in 100 percent - our fwds on Sunday had enough chances to score but couldn't kick straight.

Bottom line is that they are not North players so having players rested or not 100 percent about playing SANFL finals is always likely to happen and Lonie and White's absence (and Perries for that matter) made no difference in the end. At least Gilly is 100 percent committed to North when he drops back fom the Crows.

May be 100% committed to North but is only 20% accurate.

I think his accuracy rate was even less on the day - I think he had 10 shots at goal for a return of 2-6 and two that didn't record a score but were classed as shot at goal. :(

Be assured if he has that many shots for goal again this week, his conversion rate will be a hell of a lot higher

I'd like to have your confidence Locky but Gilly has slipped back compared to where he was early to mid 2006

Could this be partly due to increased exposure he has received as an AFL player? He certainly wasn't getting on the back page of the paper with every aspect of his game analysed previously. Could have shot his confidence.

i dont think Lonie will care bout being pulled out. it means he has a chance of playing in 2 grand finals in 8 days. and dont think jars will care because now he has three aces up his sleeve lonie, white and perrie.. will Ryswyk be any chance of playing in the grand final if they make it

Do north fans feel robbed now that Brad Symes is playing for the power in the GF.
I still hope the power lose but i want to wish Brad and Justin all the best, and hope they are still committed to play sunday week as well.

Been discussed briefly already in the AFL Forum:

The Power screwing with us used to upset us but we're used to it now, doesn't bother me at all to tell the truth.

Well Peter Rhode explained it tonight and I think the reasons are fine: Lonie has played upto last week whereas Symes had missed two games so they wanted to see how he went with a full game under his belt. Fair enough.

At the end of the day they are Port Power players and they can do as they choose. Norht have enough quality as so many other teams to worry about if blokes like Lonie will play.

Although Gill is a handy AFL in but he at least comes from North!

Cannot argue with the rationality BP that LONIE is a PP player and its thier call
Your post is 100% correct in FACT
BUT
Your club NA has been inconvienced and the SANFL has been degraded by the happenings

Lonie has only played 1 game in the last 3 weeks. Missed Round 23 when he was an Emergency for Port and missed last week. The rationale used by Port is either a crock or they are that unprofessional they can't properly keep track of what their players have been doing.

This week
PP playing the AFL G/F
NA playing the SANFL Prelim final
Nathan Lonie not selected to play in either side

NA supporters on this site are loyal parachial and outspoken and
this is being left to go through to the keeper.
If I was a NA barracker I would be livid on what has transcribed

I assume LONIE will travel to Melbourne as an emergency for PP ?
I assume if LONIE is not in the 22 he will be disappointed and have to watch the game ?
I assume he will fly back to Adelaide ASAP and play for NA on sunday ?
I assume If the AFL g/f is a draw PP wont allow him to play for NA under any circumstances ?

Im tipping he will play for the roosters on Sunday ?

I must say Mal after realising (thanks to RR) that Lonie missed the last minor round game and only played the first final that Peter Rhode's explanation on behalf of the Power re resting Lonie last week and allowing symes to play was a little flawed if they used the basis of match time to assess a player. I think your right about the AFL clubs at times treating the SANFL clubs with scant regard! If Lonie doesn't play this week for either the Power or North and wants to be in consideration for the GF should North make it then 1 game in 4 weeks isn't hardly ideal!

I spied at Prospect last night on the under 17s training session
Number 1 looks a player
Yes I do take an interest in all the clubs as I think SANFL footy is a great comp.
I just dislike the afl interference with the SANFL clubs, particularly at this time of the year.

Last year we had the WILLETTS/LOGAN ? bullshit in the last round.

The one that really irks me is the fitness assessments of the players.
Remarkably as PP/AC stay in the finals certain players are deemed fit enough to play in the finals campaigns for either AFL/SANFL clubs
Ironically when the AFL club is out of the finals instead of that player playing for the SANFL club
he all of a sudden needs an off season operation ASAP !
How many times ....
