Sorry Sojourner - It can't suggest WA is the best comp outside the AFL, simply because we will never know if Claremont would have beaten any of the top SA teams, as they didn't want to compete.
It definately means they are one of the 2 best state league teams who competed in the comp.

Writings on the wall regardless whether the current top teams here in SA played or not, WA teams had a crack & wern't scared.
They proved they are better than us full stop.

Would make no difference which side it was, the top three SANFL sides would still struggle to get within three goals of the Tigers.

Teams like Centrals and Norwood would flog Claremont.

Sure, the priemoney is not massive, but what were they expecting...
My understanding is that Centrals could do with the money anyway.

Oh good, a Port supporter commenting on other clubs' arrogance, not much left to see now

That's a bit of a circular argument isn't it?
The competition is meaningless, so we aren't going to enter.
We didn't enter so you can't determine any meaning from the outcome.
Well done to Port, North and West for having some courage to take part. Invaluable experience for the younger kids at Port especially who got to travel to Sydney and Perth as a team.

Punctuation Anyone?
Poor, unsubstantiated rationale to justify a pissant decision not to participate. Enjoy the bye. Personally I've enjoyed the chance to watch my team play EVERY week.
Funny, these so called "zilch" rating seem to be enough for the Foxtel Cup to be included in the TV fixture for the next 5 years.

smac wrote:Yes, that $40k prizemoney to the winning club would equate to:
21 players per match
4 matches
$476 per player, per match.
Compared to a $350,000 salary cap for a 20 match minor round (apologies if I'm slightly off the mark with the cap, but it's close enough to prove the point):
21 players per match
20 matches
$833 per player, per match.
Even for a club that played 4 finals, that equates to $694 per player, per match.
Take out expenses of playing in the comp and that money doesn't actually exist, does it?
