What 50,000+ to an SANFL Grand Final in this day & age? I find that very hard to believe.

My prediction for the crowd 31,417

That is what they were expecting after getting over 36,000 at the despised Football Park last year. Until the weekend they were thinking at least mid 40s this year.

I was surprised when it was mentioned that 1999 was less than 40,000. I thought that some of the later 1990s Grand Finals did get close to full houses.

I think '98 was about 45 or 46. '95 and '96 got mid-40s too I think.

Remember this is the same hierarchy who promised 4,000 Crows supporters at every Crows Reserves game. It's just another example of how out of touch they are.

1995: 45,786 PPort v Centrals.

1996: 46,210 Port v Centrals.

1997: 44,161 Norwood v Port.

1998: 44,838 Port v Sturt.

1998 was the last year where the crowd has reached 40,000 or above.

Lowest Grand Final crowd was for the 2004 Grand Final between Centrals and the Eagles. 24,207.

The SANFL budgeted for 6500 at yesterday's match and are hoping for 30k this weekend.

Certainly sounds a lot more realistic!

30k sounds about right.
Will only be Norwood and Port supporters, cant see many neutrals going this year. Know of plenty that normally go to the GF who are boycotting this year

No South are out mate, there will be a decent crowd now.

Port Power playing Saturday night won't help but I think there will be 40,000. Those of us that aren't sour are pretty excited about the game :)

Seems your supporters went missing on the weekend.

We outnumbered you......

Usually get a fair ammount of neutrals who go, I know ive only missed a couple of GF's in close to 25 years but if we were not in it I wouldnt be going this year. Plenty of people feel the same at the moment and they are entitled to feel that way.

I have mine big Phil and I'm looking forward to the spectacle of sitting amongst 40,000 watching a good old fashioned Port v Norwood stoush.

As you are a man of wisdom what your guess on the crowd.

Good old fashioned

Low 30s is my guess. Have been fairly low numbers of Port fans at the last two finals. I've been the past few years as a interersted onlooker, but wont be going this year.

Port turn out should be ok, only a certain amount of people can get to Melbourne and I am hearing of quite a few saying they'll be back in time for the game on Sunday and will get to both.

Would love to see 40k naturally but think considering we haven't seen that since 98 it's just not going to happen. My girlfriend and I will be there though as we were last year.

Wont even get close to 30,000. 25,000 is what I`m guessing. I will be interested to hear the official attendance. I know a few North Adelaide home games this year seemed a little exaggerated.
But I am sure the SANFL will not mess with the figures :^o

It's a bit of the unknown really. Norwood fans WILL be there but not sure about the Port people.

From a TV audience view I hope it gets a big crowd to get a message that it's a good comp worth attending and still holds interest. But I would also like to see mainly Norwood fans to show the Magpies are irrelevant.

Congrats on that....to use an old chest nut did you happen to look at the scoreboard

Time will tell I guess but I have been very accurate in the first 3 weeks. 40,000 and a great atmosphere as much as it will irritate many posters on SaFooty who are obsessed by theories of doom and gloom

having it AFL prelim final weekend is a mistake IMO. The week after the AFL grand final on the Saturday would of drawn 40k plus IMO. The SANFL grand final gets all the media attention and interest after the AFl has finished. on a sunday with work next day is shit as well.

I'm certain I have more idea than you. I will be there to see it first hand on Sunday whilst you are likely to be on your keyboard whinging about it.
