that is true, that the matches are on sunday, but the majority of the season is played on a Saturday arvo and they are giving entry to the competition

Looks at each clubs Average crowd per game so far in 2015 v Average for all of 2014.

Eagles crowds are disappointing considering their position however a small base anyway. West up with a small base but maybe its their attacking game style that is better to watch than that of some others. I'd imagine if Glenelg and Sturt were better sides then the average would be up .
Port and Crows are the obvious ones that are terrible but expected.

North's is surprisingly stagnant if you take out the difference that went between our last two Anzac Day games.
Would have thought we'd be miles down. Loyal bunch.

Centrals is a strange one, people that go regularly say crowds are well down but figures dont suggest this

fudging figures me thinks, either we are getting dodgy figures now or the clubs were given misleading figure beforehand making us think these one are wrong.

there is no way the crowds at Centrals are up from the very few games i have been to this year.

There is no way the Centrals gate is out. They are absolute Nazis trying to get into Elizabeth....

Ive never understood how they get kids right, when i was a kid there we used to go the footy in a group of 10-20 each week and we would be back and forth through all the different gates all day from going to hungry jacks, shopping centre, meeting girls etc.

I honestly reckon if we were getting counted every time we would have added close to 100 extra vists between all of us and we were only one group of kids.

Remember the comparison is

First 14 Round of 2015
v
Full Season for 2014

Crowds tend to dip the further the year proceeds.

So the comparison is only going to get worse by the end of August.

Has there been any acknowledgement internally at Oval Ave on the effect on crowds over the last season and a half?

I recall @Big Phil saying that Centrals have done their own gates for years and not the SANFL. Is that right Phil and if so is it still the case?

Could be wrong but I think we use to do it ourselves but now it is done by the sanfl

So, hypothetically and without anything sinister, the crowd could have been 4000 but was tabled as 2600 and now the crowds actually are 2600 then it seems as there has been no drop off. Yes?

Yeah agree that was the point I was trying to get across in my post, if either Centrals or the sanfl have been deflating or inflating the crowd figures then that would give the impression of dodgy figures now

All I know is that visually and atmosphere wise crowds are awfully down now at Centrals

The opposite, the clubs were supposed to take over their own gates/security/etc as of the start of this year.

Absolutely. I say the figures are total BS. I have been to all but the Adelaide/Power games and the crowds are way down, you almost know everyone at the game by sight.

Dont forget we are coming off a very low base considering some of the ultra low attendances last year. Even if they are slightly up so far this year, the important point is that they are still at an extremely low level, and you wonder how badly that will affect finances moving forward.
