With the right to not say too much about it, that does give more reasons to post on here, too. Which is a good thing for this site. ;) But I would think that the members as OCT said, have a right to know.

Except in this case there are 1000+ members (aka children of the marriage) who have a stake in the estate.

wow that was a bit quick, the bloke has just come to terms with the fact his league career is over and now is ready to coach.

not 100% sure about this decision but it might please the long suffering south fans as they love him to death!!

good luck to him and it shows he has the passion for the jumper, just not sure if its the smart choice. time will tell i guess...

It does seem that they undertook an extensive process, I'd be surprised if they didn't interview him.

Have I missed a statement\release or has the SAFC boards president come out and said anything?
Good to see the chairman come out on 5AA but surely now would be the time for some direction and or leadership from the president?
Apologies if he has said someting publicly and Ive missed it.

On a slightly different tangent Robert Pyman and Phil Herden would be cackling themselves silly privately and who could blame them?

And LOL about bragging about the club being in the best shape its been in for 10 years, thatd be like me getting excited because my gut is in the best shape its been in for 2 years.

um, not sure what you are saying but in the text you highlighted i was getting to the point that it may be too soon for him to take on the role, esp for 2 years.

South will continue to be in the doldrums for many years to come. The fact that they signed a high-profile coach initially, who has just walked out on the club, and then immediately appointed not just a caretaker coach, but someone for two years who has no prior coaching experience...

South should have appointed Sampson as caretaker coach, and then advertised nationally for the head-coaching job. Sampson should have been encouraged to apply. The club really ought to have been seen to be fair dinkum, by going through the due process that I would have thought all supporters of the club would have expected, which was to enter into a full process of seeking interested applicants, interviewing, canvassing for suitability to club, game-plan, strategies, and then appointed the best person for the job.

Signing Sampson so quickly after Jack left, is in my view, a massive mistake.

So while Flanny wants to be the big front-man of the SAFC, and while he appeared to be passionate and sticking up for his club and shoving it up KG, he now ought to get back on the radio to justify why the South Board have rushed into such a rash decision to appoint a bloke who only a few weeks ago, was still a required player.

It stinks of unprofessionalism and I have no sympathy for South if their woes continue.

According to Dave Flanagan on 5AA Sampson was always supposed to have been chosen as the successor to Jack Cahill at the end of his two years at the Panthers, so they made the decision to move it forward.

I hope its not a case of the Labor party and Mark Latham and picking fruit before it is ripe though!

If Sampson is half as interesting as Latham was then South will be fun to watch for the next year or so.
