Unfortunately for Port Magpies supporters Luke Saunders has retired due to niggling injuries and work issues.

Steve Eichner not happy apparently at Alberton playing B grade.
Rumour has it he's signed at Freeling in the Barossa League.
Any Port people know the full story?

What a wasted talent. That state game was the end of the poor guy.

I would of thought the bloke would work hard on the areas he's struggling after that knee injury, obviously theres an area of concern whether its pace, inability to turn quickly, lack of agility, he's obviously still favouring that knee to a degree, packing his bags & heading to a League like that ain't going to improve his footy in any way its like he's throwing in the towel coz he believes he should be in the League side. Any player that struggles for form after such a horrific knee injury needs to bide his time in the Bs for form & sadly that can take some time, he still has age on his side but struggles with patience.

At his age? 25? the reserves isn't the place for a bloke of his age. He wasn't happy with the way the club was heading, too many interstate blokes getting picked before him. Plus he'll be on double the amount of money at Freeling compared to what he was getting at the Magpies.

There's many a player who whinges about the club/ coach/ selectors when he's not getting a game (myself included). There's also many a player who will do something about it. Some put their shoulder to the wheel and demand to be picked, alternatively some leave.

Steven Eichner was one player I had my hopes on to step up and play well for the club again. Sadly not, and good luck to him whatever he may do.

The reserves is the place for him to find form d&w, his forms not going to come in a p!ss weak level of comp like the Barossa.
The club ( Port ) can only go in the one direction ( that is up ) if all players are commited & focussed on getting the best out of themselves not whinging coz some players are getting a game ahead of them, maybe coz they have form on their side! those whinging players go nowhere & thats why you've gone nowhere d&w & to make things worse is you mention $$$, if thats what he's chasing he's a bigger fool than he looks, a bit like you.
We will remember Steve Eichner as the player with alot of ability, that played SANFL state footy & fell by the wasteside because he didn't want to put the hard yards in & EARN a birth back in the League side, he chose to "dodge&weave" his way out of doing the hard work to get back in the League side.
The club is better off without players like that, unfortunately you get a few like that at all clubs & Port seem to have more of them of late which could be the problem down there. I call them white-ants they eat away at what your trying to build which is making Timmy's job even harder, I say shape up or ship out to the rest of these type of players down there.

You see this kind of shit in the work place as well. "waah waah waah.. I should've got the promotion" then they proceed to sabotage shit and bring everyone else down. It's the blokes who put their head down and get on with it who get the rewards at the end of the day.

No dickhead policies work better at getting success than recruiting on talent alone.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

How harsh do you want to be on him? In a side that is leaking goals and not kicking any you would think a bloke 6ft + that can move would be getting some opportunities.

To suggest he has not done any hard work is a load of BS and you know it.

3 games into the season Booney & he's leaving a sinking ship as UK Fan stated.
The hard work is ahead for the team with 17 games remaining i'd say.

He has been doing the hard work from the day he did his knee nearly 3 years ago(IIRC). He has done plenty of hard work i would of thought in that time and if he can't cut it by now then i don't think hard work will get him there anymore. He is obviously out of favour.

So you expect him to see out the season when he is clearly being overlooked for ring-ins from Victoria??
The backline is struggling, lacking in talls, with his exclusion he is clearly not part of the game plan for some reason. Why stick around, and not enjoy your footy if your not getting a fair go. Good on him.

If your not part of the game plan & your a 25 yr old playing in the reserves with no sign of getting a recall why stick around. Get your head out of the sand mate. He is not suited to reserves footy, and therefore doesn't enjoy it. This is a bloke who was on an AFL list and he can't get a spot in the ailing backline that's void of quality defenders like Eichner.

Yes his form was good & he was rewarded with League games before this year so clearly it must be his form, it is another year.
Timmy is an approachable person can't he stand up for himself & ask for some advise.
