Most people couldn't see Sturt winning ANY games at the start of the season. They could continue to surprise.

Yeah, Sturt are ordinary.

Have been all year really

I can't help but think that some people around here are hoping that Sturt fall in a big hole rather than actually believing it will happen.

As you said though Sam, it's just a prediction but as with LEH, I would be most interested to hear exactly why Sturt will go winless for the remainder of the minor round? I am not saying it couldn't happen but I see them week in, week out and know what they are capable of and thus my prediction that they will win again this season is based on something solid, not just a whimsical statement or guess....

Play on.

And FFS, it was perhaps a 'surprise' that they flew out of the blocks so impressively at the beginning of the season, but surely they can win a game of footy at this stage of the year and not have it dismissed as a 'surprise'.

This is exactly what Sheedy suggested in the write up this morning, people are for whatever reason STILL not convinced.

I thought, after reading the thread title, it was a premonition thread for dogs v sturt next week...

The fixture is set and anything that happens in the next few weeks is irrelevant come finals (aside from double chances I suppose).

What ever happens, Sturt have made considerable progress this year and have probably brought forward their long term goals by at least a year, if not two!!

North have got a harder run home than Sturt (we play more teams higher on the ladder than ourselves!) but I wouldn't have it any other way. Playing the Dogs, Eagles, Sturt and possibly other finalist in Glenelg in our last 4 games is perfect preparation for the finals.

Exactly. And I would bet Jars and his players would feel exactly the same way, as does Rick Macgowan and his charges.

Never said sturt were ordinary.
Port starting to run into some good form.
Dogs at home will be extremly hard.
Glenleg were excellent the other week when i saw them, as were North.
as for whimsical statement or guess, if you see them every week and know what they are capable of i dont see why you would get worked up about my prediction.

WAAAH!
Only kidding. :D I have read this two or three times recently, and it sounds a lot like the predictions everyone was making at the start of the year about Sturt finishing bottom, and every game we have lost so far this year opinion immediately been that Sturt is/was finished.
I think MST has made a fair point that "What makes people think this?"
My opinion is similar to what it has been most of this year. If we go out and give our strongest, grittiest performance this week end, then we should come home with the two points against the 'Pies. Anything less and we they will make us pay, as they playing with purpose recently.
I also believe that if we play our hardest footy over the next few weeks we will also at least give ourselves a chance of winning every game. This is very unlikely though, as I reckon the brand of footy coming up is going to be a finals type pressure game, and some of the younger lads are going to need to go through the cooker to graduate, before the real finals begin.
Whatever, a few very interesting weeks leading up to the finals.

i think the real reason people think this is, even though sturt have had some very good wins the season, what happens from round 1-23 only means so much, unless they convert those wins to performances during the finals then it dosent count for much.

I think the Blue Boys have done enough this year to earn respect from the other 4 teams in the top 5.

In my mind, only two teams are Feared come September/October....?

But Sturt being the third most successful team this millenium........

Don't ever drop your gaurd........

Go Blues.....
