If it was fine yesterday North would have won by 100+.
North had one lapse when they let Norwood kick 3 in a row but recovered well after that.

Haha next you will tell me Glenelg is a better chance than North!

Oh Dear....

This game could very easily embarrass North out of the 2007 premiership race this late in the season....?

Before the season started, North was the team to beat....

Honestly..... North haven't improved over the years........

Promised so much but never delivered.......

Probably going to finish 4th.....

Is this good enough...?

Well, at least (for their sakes), they are not getting smashed every time we play them, like what was happening nearly every time we played them up 'til about 2 years ago, so there is a lot of improvement from The Cocks in that respect. They are now very competitive, to say the least. ****' awful guernseys, but!

I thought Symes deserved a call up some weeks back, so i don't know what he did to Williams' car. Griffin looking like he'll rip into some brilliant form and is warming up nicely but can't see him moving past Maric ATM. The crows may play 3 ruckmen and have one as a forward or defender but I really can't see that happening. If he does get a call up then Pfitzner or Obst would do well. Both have had good seasons and deserve a chance. Just need to find a spot to fill! If Symes goes Dutchke, Williams or Goodrem if fit would cover that nicely. I would actually like to see us play without Symes and/or Griffin for a few weeks at least to see how we would adjust should they be suddenly unavailable for finals. I don't like relying on AFL listed players too much and I think it would be useful to see how we cope now that a top 2 spot is sewn up, and top spot is virtually sewn up.

North by 2-3 goals is my tip. I think the hard slog on the track has worn the dogs out to the point where they were struggling a little in the last 2 games. Add that to the tough contest from the eagles and the heavy ground I think we will be lucky to be as close as I tipped.

I didn't post in the hope of the North Adelaide "Me too" syndrome presenting itself...

Have North stepped up their training too in anticipation of the finals or are they still trying to hold onto a double chance?

Unsure about the current training but last year we did step it up but a little earlier than where we currently are in the season. Im not sure if that's changed with the amount of injuries we've had.

18 goals to 8 seems OK to me? Norwood have beaten both Sturt and the Eagles this season and had a good team on the park

I wasn't there tho - you think it should have been like the Alberton match?
34 goals to 8 is what you need to close the gap. Doggies by 3-4 goals in a tough encounter.

Yeah i expect North to be that little bit fresher this week, add to that the real threat of losing the all important top 3 spot North should be a good thing this week.

Expect Roy Laird to experiement once again with Alan Obst, Ryan Williams or Leigh Westoff to come in for Brad Symes and Charles Slattery IMHO.

Obst and Williams both could be wildcards come finals with their ability to play up forward or down back. I personally think Roy Laird is looking to add one more versatile player to the bench, and one of them could be the man considering Graham is still struggling.

Obst adds flair, strength and goal kicking power, while Williams is a big pyshical body who can play on a small or a tall, and when down forward plays as both a tall and a small. Both these guys have been in good form in the reserves despite the recent bad run of results.

Leigh Westoff will get one more chance before the minor round is over and it will be this week. If he has any plans to play league finals he will need a brilliant performance as he would be competeing with Hadden for that extra midfied position.

What is the dogs current streak at prospect? It's something like 8 wins in the last 10 years in a row or something. I can't remember it exactly but does anyone know whether the coaching staff are making much of this, or not talking about it at all?

Sometimes I think jars puts too much pressure on the players when he talks up the dogs as being the measuring stick as he does constantly it seems. It will be interesting to know whether he's bringing up the dogs record against the roosters or just focussing on his game plan and trying to get the guys to work on their own games.

The Dogs are due for a loss.

The Dogs won't really care if they win or not as they are so far ahead on the ladder.

The Dogs will throw the game so that the Eagles won't get 3rd spot and be a threat to them come finals time.

The above 3 sentences are completely wishful thinking.

Some of what you say is indeed quite valid IMHO Mic. Dogs are due for a loss in some sense. It is very hard to win 19 games in a minor round season. It would be a huge effort to do this, and so dropping another game would be neither surprising nor such a bad thing.

They wouldn't throw a game, and the players will be giving their all to get the win but I also think the coaching staff don't really give a stuff about 2 extra points. Laird will be 100% focussed on having the players playing their very best for September 23. If that means trying some new things, playing players out of position slightly to expose someone else or give someone a break then he will do so without hesitating.

He will also feel that giving North an edge of a win so late in the season when we may meet again when it matters would be an extra advantage we don't have to hand another team so he will be desperate for the guys who are out there on Saturday to get the 2 points to maintain our strong hold over North. Never give a sucker an even break, and never give a team a win.

It probably sounds like I'm contradicting myself, but in essence it's about winning in October (and September to get there!) first and foremost, but winning this week a very close second.

While the focus is clearly on being ready in September I don't believe that any player that pulls on the red white & blue would throw a game. This is a professional outfit and they want and expect to win once they cross that white line. If Norf want to win they will have to play very well. :)
