Aerie - not a bad team you have picked, but I would only start with three talls up forward and have Pass on the bench.

Agreed that Ron will elevate an untried player, I don't think Broadbent will be the one as he is still playing school footy.

Would like to see Geddes get a go - has exquisite skills but lack of match time this year due to a broken arm might tell against him. Two weeks ago the Power sent a scout to specifically watch Geddes.

The next two weeks are vitally important to the Eagles.

Must've been a busy day Ferret when the EAGLES played Glenelg(the game you mean I assume) three crows scouts in the grandstand watching the two's.
But I would agree with what you are saying and this is the time of year that Ron springs a surprise call up.
I would like to point out the two times that Schwarze hasn't had success at FF have been against Port and now Centrals .Firstly the eagles struggle against ports backline perhaps the same can be said about Centrals backline .Or we can look at the weather both games were played on wet or damp days come finals dry weather might be a different situation.
What I would like to see happen is bring Passador in on the bench if need be and bring in a small forward who can crumb at the talls feet. This year the first in many we have not had the small forward who can do that.
And while I am at it some Centre line pressure would help the team no end.As was proved the first time the EAGLES played Sturt this year perhaps swap the rucks around have big red as number 2 ruckman .

Fuller has been itching to get Petrenko into the team from late last year. He barely missed out on a GF appearance and had we played a few more matches he would certainly have been elevated. He was in line for his debut early this year but then got injured which set him back. Then as he was gaining form he was called up for State U18 duties where he starred. He will be in the team before long.

I think Pedler's best footy is long past him mainly due to his pace. He has never been quick but in the last 2 seasons he has seemed to loss another yard so that he struggles to keep up with the quicker talls he often is asked to play with.

No Bernie Vince this week (I stole that from CD's topic). This opens the door for another young gun to arise from the seconds !!! Or a Ken Farmer medalist recall .

A good looking side AERIE, BUT I think they may have rushed Mckenzie back in. Still no Passador but Lee is back in the two's. :D

Eagles starting to look very strong in terms of personnel and at the right time of the year, especially when you consider the name players in their two's!

P.S. MickyJ - McKenzie is too good a player to worry about getting fitness in the two's. He is possibly the best player in the comp in terms of his overall versatility re the positions and roles he can play.

McKenzie is a big inclusion for us and you'd expect he'll be ready from the word go with the class of footballer he is. Vince is a loss and Cooper would have to be doubtful.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Mattner play for Sturt given the squad the Crows have named.

Am expecting a lot closer contest between these two clubs, than what has been in recent times. This is Sturt's chance to secure their position in the top 3 and more than likely make it impossible for the Eagles to make the top 3 if they can win. Looking forward to 13 in a row!

So who would be the surprise inclusion for the Eagles to replace Cooper ?

And Eagles fans once again come out and support the team they need our voice and hopefully get over the line .The eagles need to win to help make the five .

MASSIVE game for the Double Blues.

A win will almost certainly secure a top three berth and give the whole side, in particular the younger lads, a huge amount of confidence that their best can beat ANY side in the competition. It will also mean Sturt will have beaten every side this season.

A loss will not spell disaster but I for one think victory will be priceless for our prospects in September.

Looking forward to dislodging King Kong from the back!

That would be a huge in for us Blue Boy. It might make difference from us winning or losing. Any chance of Thompson and Chaplin from the powder and Reilly from the crows too :)
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

What a game, or at least a solid indicator of where we are at. The Eagles are returning to form and getting stronger by the minute with their returnees, and the Blues have been pretty patchy, yet still in second on the ladder. I gotta admit that I don't know enough about the Eagles to say how much stronger they could potentially be by finals, but it is good to meet them now, and sort out any deficiencies that may be revealed. I am certain the Eagles will give their all for this match, they have much more riding on it than us, a real acid test in the brewing.
Both teams' supporters can claim that if their respective team plays four hard, solid committed quarters of footy they should win. We'll have to wait and see what happens if both sides turn up and give their best for the entire match, and which set of fans had the equation the right way around.
I hope we can continue the terrific season we have had to date, but this one has me worried!

Will take 3 of those AFL 4 at any time.... however Reilly can stick with the licorice allsorts. I never want to see him in a Sturt guernsey again.

I really cant remember Reilly playing any good games for us in the past yongster, I think its been a while since hes played for us anyway , but hes done bugger all when he did.

I must say I like the inclusion of macca although a bit risky not giving him a run in the 2's first. I f there's ever a player that can come straight back to league footy I've always said it's macca. A very big game for us again and it will really show where we are in the scheme of things. We've hel the dominance in head to head battles with the blue boys for many a year now bu this is very definately a very different outfit than previous years. We beat them quit comfortably in an earlier outing this season only after they showed their wares in the last term when the game had already been won. I'd be expecting a much more committed sturt outfit this time around but I still think we have what it takes to ground out another victory. My prediction is Eagles by 22points.
