After such a wonderful season last year, coupled with brilliant recruiting, sturt will finish top two and star recruit Stephen Brooks will surely win the magarey. :roll:

I would suggest '6 regulars' would be the absolute minimum Bayman. I would think there could be up to nine changes for next week.

To come in definitely;
Nelson
Sheedy
Feast
Whiteman
McLeay
Crane

Probable:
Bentley

Chance;
Brooks
Thurstans

Norwood, save for Andrew Hill at full forward, looked to be just about full strength.

All that being said, we have a lot of work to do with regards to wasting the footy, going wide and delivering into the forward line where Chambers looked the only player capable of kicking goals.

Roll on round one.

Sturt may finish bottom, they may not. Unlike Sturt1 I am not willing to make any bold predictions, but what I will say is Glenelg will not be world beaters in 2007. They will battle all year just like Norwood, West and Sturt.

I honestly can't see the five altering at all. The order may change but the same teams will play in the major round.

On a serious note, is Paul Jarvis likely to play league this year? I can remember him playing really well for westies in the late 90's. I have a lot of respect for him due to his commitment to SANFL football. Lesser players have fled to the $$$ of country footy.

I'd say he would be a chance for Round 1 not only due to his exemplary character and his passion and loyalty to the Jumper but his 100% endeavour always.

As MST has stressed much will depend on who's available through injury recovery AWFUL commitments etc.

Im surprised there isn't more concern amongst the Sturt faithful after watching last nights display ... Whats the deal with DeLuca?? How is a bloke like that not the dominant figure he should be?? He has the size (and pace for it) and has plenty of ability IMHO, almost seems like something's not right there!!

SP - It's a trial game mate, I would have thought there were more things to be critical of than a BBQ stall not being open, and as for the Oval and lighting being a sham, perhaps we should have played at Unley last night?? :wink:

MST - Norwood had plenty of outs, Hill, Duigan, Aish, Nicholas, McDonnell, De Jong, Pfeiffer, Campbell, Meeson (last few AFL listed I know, but will play most of year with us), Gibbo (was showered by 1/2 time) ... A good run with injury and we will play much better than last night.

Sturt have some good players ... Can't remember names but number 50 looked lively and number 12 (the Riewoldt lookalike - from a distance anyway) looks to have good ability.

CP, Fabian DeLuca is unfortunately one of those footballers who really annoy the bejesus out of me. All the attributes as you alluded too but unfortunately a suspect heart muscle from my point of view. Once young Angus Kurtze is fit I would have him in the side ahead of DeLuca all day long.

As far as the outs for Norwood, all the quality in the group you named are AFL listed (apart from Hill who will be a big inclusion). If the likes of Nicholas & DeJong are going to be the difference, why were they running around with the kids in the reserves? Jesse Aish is raw and will float between the reserves and league side. Duigan and McDonnell will be solid for you but are nowhere near the class of most of the missing Sturt group, our two captains and vice captain headlining that bunch.

I feel Sturt have a lot more improvement in them than Norwood, particularly from last night. The seven blokes who were missing last night are the backbone of our side.

Of course neither of us are remotely biased in our assessments are we mate? :wink:

Sturtpeter, have to agree with constance on the food situation. I had a very tasty footlong chicken fillet sub from the Subway next door which was far healthier than the usual footy fair. There was plenty of cold Coopers available and we all know eating is cheating anyway.
