Why don't they play the premership team from the year before?

My guess Pagey is that Norwood organised it, so Norwood can keep playing them as long as they wish.

yeah arent we jealous. all SANFl clubs are lining to play the crows. NOT !!!!!!

Why doesnt the premier play the crows.???? simply centrals didnt want to.

Must say though seems to have done Norwood alot of good getting this trial against the crows.

Look at the success they have had recently. No finals in 4 seasons with a wooden spoon. 10th year anniversary of last flag won. or isnt that your focus anymore ????

enjoy your trial.

Good on Norwood for starting it, I have no problem if they hold onto it for as long as they want but I think the only benefit these days is a bit of extra $$ which a lot of clubs wouldn't need.
The closer it gets the more I reckon I'll be going, a nice warm night with cold coopers on tap and having the chance to abuse both Crows and Norwood supporters at the same time, I couldn't think of much more better things to do! :D

I'll stand corrected but I have a feeling the nominal admission charge of $5 is a charitable collection. Norwood gets the benefit of the catering though I think.

I'll also stand corrected on this but I think the Crows originally approached Norwood to play these games, and the fixture has simply become an annual one since.

Dunno Squawk you might be right but it still means $$ to Norwood and the advert does say "part proceeds go to charity" not all of them so a bit off the gate might go there too.
I think it started because the Crows used to do a lot of summer training at Norwood didn't they?

Actually Centrals did play the Crows a few years ago at Norwood. Not the primary side, however.

I reckon the Dogs could play the Crows at Elizabeth now that it has lights, one week before or after the Norwood trial.

Every year both the Crows and the Paaahrrrr have a country camp. What might be worth raising is the prospect of the two AFL clubs playing a trial game against the SANFL team who represents the zone that the clubs have their country camp in. The location of the camps changes each year so it would enable a rotation of the AFL clubs playing different SANFL teams with the added benefit of having a game oif real interest to country footy fans.

LMAO. This is a post truly worthy of rookie status. I'd like to you to explain the logic behind how it would help the Redlegs if they did not play this fixture every season. Perhaps when you in such a giving mood you could also explain how this fixture has led to our current predicament on the field. Here endeth the lesson.

Why is it assumed all CROWS supporters have no idea about 'real' footy. Some of us have followed our league footy for 40 odd years and still go every week but we are smart enough to realise that the AFL is a definite step up in skill and class so go along and appreciate it. I concede their are plenty of Johnny come latelys that follow the CROWS but we are all not tarred with the same brush.

G

Good Post, totally agree

In all honesty, I could never understand why football fans attack crow supporters who may be Johnny come latelys, who really cares. When the crows came in to the comp the club attracted a lot of new supporters to the GREAT game of footy, so why is this such a bad thing

People should take off the blinkers, look at the bigger picture, football is a business and it's all about growing your market share..., if we can attract more parents and kids for through the gate, who really care if they are an expert and how long they have been following footy for

I played SANFL, I love grass root footy, I love my SANFL, I maintain both my club and SANFL membership even though I am living interstate, I will always continue to support my SANFL club and the comp, but some people really do need to pull there head out of the sand, footy has change and we must also change and learn to be more tolerant

Do you hear Sydney's core football supporters complain that a lot of Sydney folk do not understand the game, the answer is no, because the club has increased it's members and supporter base, improved it's position in the sydney market and is seriously challenging the NRL game in NSW

So who cares if clubs have some uneducated supporters, as long as they are attending our Game and Not NRL and are creating a friendly environment and footy is bringing them joy, they can yell out what they please

In what year did the Norwood and premier vs crows trials stop ??? whilst Centrals were premiers i believe. im sure you guys can figure out the rest.

REB im sure a game in the middle of Feb against hardened AFl players who are a week away from a new football campaign. Is exactly what your preseason preparation needs with the start of the season more than a month away.

or more to the point. Does Norwood football club care about what it does to the norwood players preparation at all. or do they simply care about the $$$ it attracts due to desperate times. mmm I wonder.

Might want to at this point start to wonder why Centrals turned down the crows trial game. Ill give you a hint. (to early in preseason prepartion)

As stated doesnt seem to be hurting your on field preformances at all. More to the point Like the Norwood board even cares. 10 years with nothing what a surprise.

Enjoy your trial. :)

It's a game first and foremost. The problem I have is when it is treated as a business first. Hence an unfair draw, sold home games, high admission prices etc.

you obviously havent been called unsouth australian for not supporting the franchise sydney dog. Cos if you dont support this 15 years old club then obviously you arent a true south aussie. the team for all south australians line is bollocks hello port adelaide.

plus if you dont support the crows and live in SA very easy to hate. You try being force fed something you dont like for 15 years and see if you dont form a grudge.

crows invented for one thing. keep port out of afl. guess what ???

Crap, Adelaide Football Club invented for one thing - to ensure the entire SA Footy community benefited (as much as possible - whenever there is change from the status quo there will be winners and losers) from the planned entry into the AFL not just 1/10th of it

My club (Glenelg) has lost with the formation of the Crows, like the other SANFL clubs, but the losses are far less than what it would have been if the original Port Adelaide bid got up...

Just imagination if the Port Adelaide Football club was controlling the income from an AFL franchise as a license holder compared to being a sub-license under the SANFL, how much of a distribution would the other SANFL clubs get.....

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
