North win by almost 4 goals, should have been closer to 10.

And how much did Sturt, at home, beat the Eagles by?

North, playing for their season were way too desperate. Plus 17 in clearances and plus 26 in inside 50 showed their dominance. Eags poor coming off the bye, were second to the ball, made bad choices and generally panicked with the ball. Fleeton best IMHO.

They coulda compromised and named the merged club after the city, instead of either progenitor.

Then we could see Charles Sturt play Other Sturt twice a year.

It is a fact of life, sad as it is for Torrens supporters that merged entities are often known only by the first name. A couple of examples come to mind in the NRL. Whoever hears Canterbury-Bankstown or St. George-Illawarra, they are always known as Canterbury and St George.

Canterbury Bankstown aren't a merged entity, came into being as the Canterbury-Bankstown RL Club in 1935
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Similar to Manly-Warringah?

Eagles should have just done what the Wests Tigers did and become the Woodville Eagles, much smoother on the tongue.
Torrens supporters now have the Crows to follow out of Thebby. Make them the West Torrens Crows.

We are getting off topic but the Canterbury Rugby League Club and the Bankstown Rugby League Club merged at the start of 1935 so that they could be admitted to the NSWRL the same year.

That wasnt stated on wikipedia when I went to check my facts before I originally posted but I've looked elsewhere and yes you are right.

However, fair cop to the fair minded eagles supporters who comment win lose or draw on here like wedgetail and Aerie. I note D'Aolia was quiet on the weekend 13 disposals when he was very prolific against us a month ago (21 touches, 4 Cl). Did North have a run with on him?

There back on track ;)

I thought that way back when at amalgamation time, that the deal was the combined clubs were to just be named as Eagles.

Whilst mildly annoying, I'm not losing any sleep over it, far more important things to concern yourself with.
I'm just proud to support a club that gives an honest effort most weeks, regularly makes the finals, is financially stable, wins their fair share of premierships and has never finished bottom. Whilst you couldn't say those things about the West Torrens Football Club, I was incredibly proud to support them as well. From my first memories in 1969 (in hindsight, a bloody good year!), till 1990, (saw only 4 finals for 1 draw and 3 losses), we endured plenty of thin and the occasional highlight. Those wins against the odds were gloriously celebrated and formed a unique bond amongst our supporters, some who have become lifelong friends. Dinners with those guys and listing our worst ever coaches, recruits, teams etc is a highlight and makes us realise how good we have it now, even though it is not the original Eagles. Eagles till I die!

It's about respect IMO. If you're calling SANFL footy, you should know. It's Woodville-West Torrens Football Club, known as The Eagles. I don't think anyone would be losing sleep over it, but I'd personally rather them be called properly when being broadcast. Happy for them to be called Little Peter Rabbits on here.

Yes Wissman ran with D'Aloia. Wissman had 11 disposals and 13 tackles and was named 5th best player for North in the club's best players.
