North is where it is due to two strong gaming venues and our results re income has bucked the industry trend otherwise we would be back to the pack. Business model is good but gaming is very fickle so it could all change quickly thru no fault of how the operations are run etc.

I understand they've cut/lost at least one senior member of the football department for this season.
So there's at least some cutback in spending. Is that correct?

I believe the first instalment to clubs from the sale of Basheer is Oct 2016 and will be about $125K. This amount will rise in subsequent years to a max of $400K. Many strings attached to the spending of this money with debt reduction the main target. The Eagles are one of a few (if not the only club) to be debt free after the sale of the buildings at Port Rd so will therefore have a different focus on spending their money.

The spooked supportes that jump on anything to suggest the comp is dead need to consider no payents to the clubs. Invest it wisely to produce an income annually for each club. Invest in housing ? Invest in a pub ? Invest in a franchise ? Just think long term. The less reliance on AFL revenue the better. Have to be someone involved that has this mentality.

I expect a fair bit of cash will be required to fund the SA women's league comp.
Or do each club fund it from their own membership etc coffers.
Does/ will the AFL fund the proposed women's competition 100%.?
Are the AFl currently funding the current Power and Crows women's costs and push into a National league?

I'm not sure what womans football has to with investing money for the survival, benefit and growth of the SANFL competition.
We must have someone with some financial nous within the clubs pushing for a shared income distribution , let alone at SANFL level. If the clubs and SANFL are that dumb then , yes, our competition is stuffed. This is basic fundamental management stuff.

Not strictly financial projections, but good news for a club is set to be announced tomorrow.

Probably completely unrelated but I found myself wondering whether Holden have committed as major sponsor for this season yet?

In the structure of footy in this country the SANFL are the custodians of football development for all of SA. Unless something massive changes, this means any new comp like a women's comp needs a solid base from the SANFL. I think the AFL have seriously neglected the SANFL clubs they rely on for their talent from SA thus far, but this might signal an opportunity for that to be addressed.

I think he is saying.
The SANFL with their clubs will fund the Women's comp etc.
So the SANFL financial projections must include these costs going forward
unless the AFL come up with the funding.
Like the men players currently,
women players will be taken into the new National women comp in drafts in years to come.

If the Women's Comp is the AFL's brainchild, why should be up to the SANFL and its clubs (particularly the latter) to cough up the money to run it?

I agree.
The SANFL run the minor round comp over 25 weeks with only 20 rounds, I struggle to understand that too.

Not sure what it has to do with the SANFL.

I think BOTB, VP and I are saying the same thing - that is, it should have nothing to do with the Snaffle.
