Oh, ha ha, no worries, sorry about that !!!

I know that Neil Cross (ABC TV Sports Presenter and former ABC SANFL Commentator) is heading over to Melbourne to head up the coverage...

I've heard, from a reliable source, that ABC here in Adelaide will be taking the feed of ABC Victoria's telecast, so yes, I think it will be on TV here...

There's also a few lads from LifeFM heading over to broadcast the game back into Adelaide and have a bit of a footy trip away at the same time...

Here is the squad:

WEST END STATE SQUAD

Ian Callinan (Adelaide)
Jarrod Schiller (Central)
Luke Habel (Central)
Paul Thomas (Central)
Tim McIntyre (Central)
Ruory Kirkby (Glenelg)
Jay Shannon (North)
Leigh Ryswyk (North)
Matt Campbell (North)
Todd Miles (North)
Jace Bode (Norwood)
Matthew Panos (Norwood)
Simon Phillips (Norwood)
Steven Summerton (Port)
Brett Eddy (South)
Joel Cross (South)
Keegan Brooksby (South)
Nick Liddle (South)
Kory Beard (Sturt)
Michael Coad (Sturt)
Zane Kirkwood (Sturt)
Richard Tambling (Sturt)
Chris Schmidt (West)
Daniel Caire (West)
Daniel Webb (West)
Jonathon Beech (West)
James Boyd (Woodville-West Torrens)
Luke Jarrad (Woodville-West Torrens)
Luke Powell (Woodville-West Torrens)
Matthew Goldsworthy (Woodville-West Torrens)
Michael Wundke (Woodville-West Torrens

Good squad . A few in on name ala Thomas and Schmidt but proven players .

That would be the dumbest quote I have ever heard. Schmidt would be Westies best player by a mile this year and is one of the best players in the SANFL. Wouldn't be surprised to see him as Captain of the SA team.

I thought Schmidt has been out injured and had just returned, thats why I posted my thoughts. A good player no doubt .

I'm pretty sure Schmidt has only missed the Port game, due to the irregular heartbeat issue...

No worries. As I pointed out earlier, Thomas had missed a few with a hamstring injury...

Does anyone know when the U18 squad is announced, if it hasn't already ? If it has been announced can someone paste it? I noticed some clearances to the NAB U18s go in.

Shows how serious this game is being taken, Rowey in his role as Chairman of Selectors mentioned tonight that they only picked guys who wanted to play, McGuinness and several other players were not selected due to having other priorities and wanting the weekend off.

There is an article on FOOT-e TIMES that shows the release of the VFL Squad, with a couple of familiar names in the initial Big V squad...

I am a little concerned that our squad selected is too much on reputation and not on form.

Webb, Ryswyck, Callinan, Kirkby, Mcintyre all suggested by posters on SAFOOTY as not going that well this year.

The u18s has been named, but I don't have the names on me and this year it is a home and away tournament.

Central District player Tom Collier, along Sturt's Ben Hansen, Norwood's Sam Baulderstone and the Eagles' Andrew Ainger, have all been added to the State Squad after impressive form last weekend...

I take it that this game is not compulsory and players are under no obligation to play?

Good news, for those interested, in that ABC TV Victoria will be sending next weekend's game across to Adelaide, with the coverage - hosted by Neil Cross - on Channel 2 at 12:30pm (SA time).

Well seeing as Kirby isn't going to be in the country Id suggest he isn't going to play, why name him in the squad?????

Because the selectors are idiots....

Didn't the chairman publicly announce that some players were selected in the initial squad on reputation in the hope that their form will pick up :?

My predicted side:

F: Coad, Wundke, Callinan
HF:Hansen, Ainger, Eddy
C: Beech, Summerton, Jarrad
HB:Thomas, Beard, Caire
B:Bode, Miles, Collier
Ruck: Baulderstone, Cross, Kirkwood
INT: Brooksby, Schmidt, Liddle, Schiller

Assuming the 4 recent ins all play, Callinan plays to make sure Crows are part of it. I reckon Phillips and Powell and Tambling the unluckiest in my view. A few others underdone and some others lucky to be in squad to start with (Mcintyre, Ryswick, Kirkby)
